Oh I get it. How dim of me! Makes sense now.
I use almost the same technique! I wear compression gloves and they have grippy bumps on the palm. I put the medicine bottle on the counter next to the bathroom sink (it's a lower counter) and keep it upright. I place my palm down on the bottle top without needing to bend my fingers and press and turn.

I came up with a new strategy to open pill bottles with one hand. Put a grippy thing (rubber grippy) and put the bottle on it upside down. Push down and turn with the palm of your hand and voila! One handed pill opening!
Nobody was available to open my pain meds this morning. I think I'm just about done with them now.
I too use the compression gloves. They really do help my hands when they are aching. Also I changed my faucets to the handle so all I have to do is move them left or right versus the knob where you actually have to grab onto them and turn them.
There are some really good ideas/suggestions on this thread.
The bubble packs we get in Group Homes are really easy to open, they have a foil backing and I just "pop" the pill out of it into a med cup.
I’ve used some really easy bubble packs dossets in my time and some have been really good if you were trying to make it HARDER to get the meds out! I found that it depends on the pharmacy to which brand they use.
My dosset box has little flip lids and are ok for the moment but there are some I’ve used when working in a ‘home from hospital’ care team (many moons ago!) that had sliding lids for each day, you just slid them off each compartment at a time, they were really easy on the hands
I have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer and it is wonderful, except for one thing: it weighs two tons. Not so good if you have to move it. A couple of years ago, I got a Kitchen Aid hand mixer. I hardly ever use the stand mixer anymore. The hand mixer is almost as much of a workhorse as its older brother, and I can easily lift it. If you have counter space to spare, the stand mixer is great. Just don’t plan on moving it around much.
Just remembered this one. When my hands are bad, I have my husband put a few days’ pills in plastic shot glasses that I get at Walmart. My niece, who is an RN, took one look at this set up and said, “You know you’re really getting old when you use your shot glasses for pill cups!” Yep.
A big problem for me these days is holding my iPad. I’ve spent a small fortune on stands and holders but can’t seem to hold onto the thing. Any ideas?
I’m sitting with a pillow on my lap for the iPad to rest on. I do the same with the newspaper, etc.
They actually sell pillows now that have a little 1" deep pocket to put the tablet in.

My wooden back scratcher I use it to help me to reach things and I use it if something falls under a table or chair to coax it out. I really don't use it for a scratcher much lol :) the best part is, it only cost a dollar.

And yes Grumpy I am now wandering around with my cart (and there is a cat in it) mumbling to myself now that my son is off to his semester in Italy. It keeps the riff raff away! My husband hasn’t noticed yet!
I need compression gloves.
I love my stand mixer!
I love my Kindle, too. I can't hold books for long sometimes when my hands are bothering me, but can prop my Kindle and turn pages with a gentle flick of a finger.

So, its MTX Sunday and got that hangover tired feeling. Out comes my slow cooker…I can pop all the ingredients in it early on when I’m at my peak for the day ( start going down hill from midday) turn it on to low setting and a lovely “all in stew” will be ready for dinner with minimal effort
I use my slow cooker all winter. I'm usually running my kids around after school, and then I hit my lowest ebb around 5pm. The rice cooker and slow cooker make it possible for me to have some sort of dinner.
