Hi everyone.
I have my psa somewhat controlled now after 6 weeks of MTX and gluten free. Horrible flare last 2 days at start of menses. Wondering if anyone else experiences this and if they’ve done anything to help like maybe eliminating menses with IUD or birth control?
I know that I used to have small flares during my cycle and continue to feel off when I think I’m ovulating. It’s harder to tell for sure since I had a partial hysterectomy a few years ago. Best.decision.ever. Anyway, you’re definitely not alone. I think that hormonal changes can impact how you feel and can cause flares or even remissions. Some women notice a decrease in symptoms when pregnant or breastfeeding too.
I have often thought my inflammation and pain were cyclical, yes.
I know that I am more likely to get sick or feel unwell when I get my period, including GI upset. I have never been a huge fan of hormonal birth control for myself. That said, I had originally had a non-hormonal IUD as I was breastfeeding when I had it put in. I switched to Mirena and love it! Again, I did not have flares associated with my period, but am quite happy with the Mirena for other reasons.
I think I feel worse during my time too. I have more fatigue and pain and then cramps on top of it too it kinda sucks.
I also feel much worse during my "time" as well. It did help with birth control pill but only by a small amount. Maybe 10%. I have stopped the birth control since it was creating other problems. During my period I take it easy, rest, and take extra pain medicine. It only lasts for a few days. Hope you are feeling better soon. Chocolate anyone?
Yeap me too. Haven't really found anything that helps but also have not tried IUDs etc. Good luck
Beth FD, thank you for posting this. I thought I was the only one flaring up during my period week. This validates my pain. For me, the aches and exhaustion starts couple days before my period comes and lasts for almost a week. Maybe hysterectomy is the way to go!
