Being a patient

Just spent 3 days in hospital with an acute kidney and UT infection plus a kidney stone trying to make a bid for freedom!
I was so grateful for the care I received at my local hospital. The staff were fantastic and although short staffed and dealing with many challenging patients gave 100% to my care and well being.

I am so glad you are better Louise! Remember to take it easy while you continue to heal. I am so glad you are back on-line, I have missed you. Happy dance <3,<3,<3,<3!

Thanks Michael, I've been visiting the site most days but unfortunately I usually can't comment as the phone I now have isn't as co-operative as my old one. Today my laptop is behaving so I'm able to add comments.....I have missed it, as I'm never one to keep my mouth shut for long lol xxx <3

Glad you're back home now. That's really rough.

Jeez Louise! Feel better won't you? Glad you got good care but yowzer that's a painful hospital trip. Thinking of you. Mouseheads <3 <3 <3

Thanks Jane <3

yep I don't advocate kidney stones lol

Ugh, kidney stones … my Dad and sister had those. My sis had hers blasted out … what did they do to you? My dad used to say it was worse than having a baby … as if he would know, LOL.
Glad to hear you are out and on the mend. Mousieheads for sure! <3 <3 <3 <3

Thanks Seenie,

I only have the one stone and, wait for it!.........its a miniscule 2mm! But apparently it doesn't matter about the size they still hurt. I drove myself to A&E at 5am on Thursday, thinking it was probably a kidney infection only, I'd get a prescription for antibiotic, pain relief and back home. But as there was blood detected in my urine and the pain described pointed to kidney stones I was kept in. After the CT scan they managed to fine my tiny little pip and decided I would be able to pass it on my own without intervention, even though "my tubes are rather narrow" Was prescribed a drug which expands my tubes so no problem, and discharged Saturday morning.

I've been fine until 3am this morning!!!!! honestly......I delivered my sons quicker than this pesky pip. Pain score was about a 9 climbed the walls and got advise from NHS direct (24 hr helpline) phoned my GP as per the advice and my GP wrote out a script for Solpadol 30/500 but told me to take my tramadol asap in the meantime. Been floating in a spacey cloud most of the day but the pain is gone :)

So, 'the pip' is still with me and no doubt may make further bids for freedom, but at least now I can cosh it with codeine :) <3

Cosh away! I have heard they are very painful <3
