World trip

In the last day, I’ve had some rather hilarious personal developments, and I’ve been inspired to plan a world trip, taking in as many locations that members on the board recommend!

So, where are you from / where is your favourite spot, and what recommends it?

So far I have a cruise in Alaska, with the wildlife and the convenience and elegance of cruising, the vistas of Montana, and Margate, where a particularly kind and funny member lives.

Oh and @Jon_sparky, I’ll have to come to California, I’d love to both see your retreat, and snaffle some pottery, and I think the postage from there is almost as much as an airfare!

Go to the west of Ireland (Kerry, Galway, Clare and West Cork for truly gorgeous countryside and wild empty beaches. And then of course indulge in all the chat, laughter and music in the pubs too. A road trip around Scotland is magical too as is Cornwall, Devon and Dorset if you like gorgeous vistas. Whilst you’re in Margate come and visit me at the other side of Kent. I’ve always loved the South of France from Cannes to Nice. Fabulous people watching anywhere along there just sitting in a cafe in little towns like Antibes or Juan Les Pins. And why not visit Reunion a island near Mauritis - it’s French and a volcanic island, beautiful beaches and you can get helicopter ride down into the crater which was utterly awesome in the proper meaning of the word. Take a plane ride over Victoria Falls which really shows you how big it is. And after you land walk to edge and look over. That memory will stay with you for forever. While you’re there take in a safari. Whilst you’re visiting jon_sparky take the road trip down to Monteray (spelling?). Or indeed drive from Vancover to California - down highway 101. That was spectacular.

P.S. You don’t want a travelling companion do you???:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Maybe we need to specialist in group tours for us PsAers! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

That’s sounds like an inspiring itinerary, and I love the way you’ve linked parts of it in - it has all been added!

Sorry to say it is men’s only retreat… :disappointed:

Austria and northern Italy have very beautiful mountains we did a road trip a few years back

The group of dots after Innsbruck… that’s the best part by far

Gran Canaria is also gorgeous we spend 2 weeks driving around the island on the volcano every view around the corner was even more beautiful then the one before haha (I’ve been to Lanzarote, Tenerife and Fuerteventura, which are gorgeous but Gran Canaria is the most beautiful)

We are planning another road trip for this holiday… were thinking about Norway or England/Scotland/Ireland or south of France/Spain… Well we want to do all those but we don’t know where to start XD I’m definitely saving your tips @Poo_therapy thanks

Oh nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! :frowning:

That made me laugh. Blame it on my sense of humour though. But can I ask why it’s that? Just curious.

The one place in the Canary Islands I’d love to visit is La Gomera. Anyone been there?

From Interlaken in Switzerland down to the Italian Lakes by train. Loved Stresa and Baveno on Lake Maggiore. And then there’sTrieste. It’s rail station is magnificent.

Love that notion. Travelling just feeds the soul and is so necessary.

Well @Jon_sparky, I’ll leave you to that😜 I’m still going to hound you for some pottery though. I have three mugs currently - one nice one that was given me, and two from the dollar shop (I sound like a Uni student, don’t I?). I’m liking that almost iridescent blue glaze…

For Austria and northern Italy, do I visit in summer? Or do I try snow skiing?

Even on wobbly legs, it would be a lot of fun!

Wouldn’t want to get there though and not be able to see a lot of it due to roads closed from snow (forgive me if that doesn’t happen - I’m a hick from the northern part of Australia, so experience in those matters is not my forte!)

It is a monastary…

I can make some pottery for you, I just do it for fun anyway…

Jon, this trip planning is mostly just dreaming and escapism at this stage (though my sister has pointed out that usually ends with airline tickets for me), so I’ll do you a deal – if I make the trip, then I will very gratefully take you up on that  (the pottery that is, not the monastery)

I ship all over the world, a friend in Belfast wanted the teapot I made…

I can wrap it and say it is a gift, then it will get through customs! :sunglasses:

I can make it a two handle mug, “for the PsA friend in your life”!
