Wild and Wooly Summertime Adventure

Sadly summer is coming to an end so we don't have much time for everyone if they haven't already, to plan and carry out a PsA defying "what the hell was I thinking adventure" Post the results here. This is a double dog dare!!!! You can do it.

Last weekend had the house entirely to ourselves the granddaughter went to respite I sent the "nannies" (the college girls who help us care for her) on a rafting trip on the North Fork (Flathead River) so we set up our homemade downhill slip and slide with a cooler full of Bud Lite Lime a Ritas. However drunken naked slip and slide is not our ONLY Wild and Wooly Summer Adventure. In two weeks we leave for a back pack trip in Glacier park as I have done every summer for the last 54 years (a couple off in the 70's while I had a jungle adventure. None the less I will be on the loop trail again soon. However we will compromise and have reservations at the Granite Park Chalet and have a linen package. However will pack enough for one or two nights lest we not make it all the way in (or out) We' come back to Many Glacier by way of Ice Berg Lake. That way all but 2 or 3 Miles will be down hill.

Good Luck with your Adventure Big or Small even if it takes a while to recover (did mention rug burns from slip and sliding) YOU WILL get more from challenging the disease than you can ever imagine..................

A low bar is fine, just do something crazy and anti-PsA

This starts the Party:

Then make one of these:

Wow! Have a great time on you latest adventure... would have loved to been there for you slip and slide adventure, LOL! I have been excited to do go to the grocery store by myself without help since May, would love a bigger summer adventure!

Rent a scooter go the fair and eat fried twinkies......Adventure is what you make it

No party yet. Did drive over 6 hours yesterday and spent 2 hours walking a very large mall it was a screw you PsA kind of day

We are tenting at the end of August should be fun

Good for you!!!!!!!!!! EVERBODY NEEDS A SCREW YOU PsA day.

We just came back from Washington D.C. Our first "real vacation" in three years. My husband keeps a pedometer on him at all times, a work thing. We averaged eight miles a day walking. We visited Monticello, Mount Vernon, and as many Smithsonian museums as we could stand. :) On Thursday I had a little mishap at Arlington. My right leg did not want to co-operate, can't imagine why. We were taking the steps up to the Custis/Lee house and I didn't lift the leg high enough to go up to the next step. The toe of my shoe caught on the step and I went down in a heap. My right knee didn't fare too well, but we picked the gravel out, bandaged it up, and I kept on going. Oh, we also got to go up in the Washington Monument. That was by far my most favorite thing.

Lamb, I'm inspired ! I must think of something......hmmmmm.

Spent Thursday through Sunday camping in the great outdoor. It rained pretty much the entire time. Kayaked in the rain. Ate in the rain. Cooked in the rain. Once you're wet you can't get wetter! It was warm and di I mention it was wet? But it was fun and I (almost entirely) forgot about PSA for the whole long weekend.

Walked the streets of Paris for two days;

Then did our version of a slip-and-slide (not nearly as fun) working in wet season West Africa

Yep, and the dudes in the car in front of us are even an armed escort!

Quite a contrast there! Looks like it was an interesting trip.

You fly Business Class right????

Wow, Jen! I wish I had your energy!

Our summer adventures have mainly included lots of kids and camping (interesting that autocorrect changed camping to choking!) we did our spring overnight cub scout trip, and then, in early July, we went with the family and my best friend, her boyfriend, and their kids (her daughter and his). Even though all state parks in my area are dry, we enjoyed adult beverages in the evenings.

Unfortunately, he (the gf’s bf) decided to try to teach me how to fish (I’ve been fishing for a long time, and after bow hunting, fishing, and camping for years don’t appreciate being told I’m doing it wrong). I was able to escape and find a quieter place to fish on my own.
Our funny (not funny…embarrassing) story is that on the last night, she had a little too much to drink, and erupted at him at their campsite. Which, of course, was right next to the camp hosts’ site. They fought for a good 20 minutes and she seemed to have lost all sense that people can hear you when there’s nothing but a thin tent wall. sigh This is why we can’t have/do nice things! Anyway, they got up the next morning and acted like nothing happened. Except for him, HE was incredibly cordial that morning. He had been a bit of a jerk the day before and that’s what triggered the dressing down that he got. He even cooked breakfast!

I fly business on the long legs - Aus to Paris, but cattle Paris to Burkina Faso. Pour Que?

My funny story is that I just got proposed to, twice! Once by a local Chief, then by the Head Chief's brother! Nothing like sitting in a grass tent at the foot of a Chief being asked to get married....

Wish I had photos of that for you, but it's the first time I met them, so thought it was a bit presumptuous to ask for photos.

Wait.... if they thought it wasn't too presumptuous to ask me to marry them, maybe photos would have been ok ;)

Yes Photos please. Pour Que indeed, they would have to take me off the plane with a hand truck thas what 10-12 hours AND ITS THE SHORT LEG. I have even greater respect for what you have accomplished...............

Yes, well once when the gold price fell through the floor someone thought economy would be a good idea. I don't even want to remember that trip. Needless to say I was going to quit if I had to do it again.

For some reason (maybe the change in cabin pressure, maybe the sitting still, maybe the dehydration) flying exacerbates anything going on, and new things turn up. But worst is the jetlag flare - of course that "night time" stiffness and pain actually happens in the daytime.......

Oh and another funny thing, how do you think the security guys at the airport felt when they saw 6 of these things (fully metal encased) in my hand luggage???

I was wondering the same thing. I’ve flown cattle many times on very long hauls, and like Lamb says, they nearly had to bring a crane to remove me from my seat. Twice I’ve been upgraded to business on a long haul, and the difference in how I felt at the end of the ordeal was amazing. Glad that you have some comfort for at least a good part of your trip!

LOL I'm sure (and I hope!) they noticed those things! And I hope they believed you when you told them what they were for!Jen said:

My summer adventures have, so far, simply been small personal challenges ….. some household projects, getting started with hydrotherapy sessions, going for a long walk on the beach (twice!), taking a short bicycle ride for the first time in nearly three years and yesterday, for the first time in oh-so-long, I went on a whole day out and I managed it without any of my usual props of husband, cane, crutches, afternoon nap etc.

I caught the train and met up with our forum member Ali at a pretty little town about half-way between our respective homes. We had lunch (and a glass of wine), lots of chat and a slow stroll around some of the town. I’m very tired today and my knees ache after being bent on the train but it was so worth it to do something normal in spite of the PsA.

It’s making me realise that now the bio has got me moving again I need to ditch the fear and push myself more, be more bullish in the face of the PsA. I’m too tired right now to work on a bigger adventure but I’m giving the PsA due warning that I’m on the case!

Just as the disease sneaks up on us, so does the treatment. We need to be constantly in in Mr (or Ms.) PsAs face. Good for you Jules. White or Red? (these thingas are important to Seenie and I)
