Wild and Wooly Summertime Adventure

It was a nice crisp dry white. French if I remember correctly ..... oh, and I forgot to mention the Cointreau liqueur coffee for dessert. Gosh, I'm so tired today but it was SO worth it.

Just as the disease sneaks up on us, so does the treatment. We need to be constantly in in Mr (or Ms.) PsAs face. Good for you Jules. White or Red? (these thingas are important to Seenie and I)

A crisp white wine followed by a Coointreau liqueur coffee after a lovely stroll on a beautful summer's day.... the thought makes me smile!

Yeah Jules I am so happy to hear it. You deserved a lovely day and you made it. Good for you.

What a bouquet of treats … summer, three PsA friends together, French white, Cointreau, and a train journey! Wish I could have shared it with you.

I'm so glad you and Ali were able to get together. Sounds like a party to me!!

Oh yes, we had a jolly good time. We even fitted in a spot shoe browsing. I myself indulged in a very nice Muscat pudding wine to accompany my trifle (hmm I never pass over the chance to have trifle). I thoroughly enjoyed myself and felt uplifted enough today to venture down to my local pool. So thanks to Jules for a lovely day out and thanks to this site for facilitating new friendships.

Yes, thanks to you too Ali ..... and thanks to this site as well. Our only 'failure' was not getting a photo to mark the occasion.

We're hoping to do it again (now we have the train schedules sussed out) before winter sets in and the usual British excuses such as 'leaves on the line' and 'wrong type of snow' bring the train system to a grinding halt.

The new community toilet! They are all happier than they look - really - there seems to be some odd thing where people feel the need to look serious in photos.

Well Our adventure took a turn... I was hoping it wouldn't rain. it didn't:

Hope you were prepared. Something tells me that even if you didn't have the necessary supplies you would whittle whatever you needed out of standing timber overnight!

I was about to add that I've had a day on the beach stunt kite flying, which I've probably not done for 35+ years, and yesterday managed something like a 3 - 4 mile bike ride around our country village roads ........ but this seems very tame compared with lambs adventure. Based on the biblical quantities of rain today/tonight, floating my ark might come top of the adventures table?????

Oh this thread is awesome!

"See the things you miss when you're not staying up to date, Meg??"

This summer I've done a lot of hiking, walking and laying in the sun! I live in Vancouver, Canada, and we have so many great hiking trails on the North Shore.

I started the summer with a splash, I went down the water slide with my nephew about 10 times. I was so unprepared for it, I kept falling down on my back and we shot out of there like a bullet. I was screaming the whole way and my three year old nephew was laughing his head off!

We didn't do a lot of traveling this year, just a road trip to Portland. We stayed in an Airbnb which had an amazing temperpedic mattress!!!! Mick came with us so we did lots and lots of walking around, tried some really great cocktails and ate some awesome food.

I really really need to find a way to get bumped up to business class when I fly. I just spend half my time walking around, or hiding out in the smelly bathroom. Last time we (hubs and I) flew we had the first row of seats so there was a lot of space between us and the wall. I literally got down on the floor and started stretching. If they don't like it they can deal with me moaning and groaning the entire time LOL. I have no shame.

My big adventure this summer has been at home. We bought this house 10 years ago but we were both working full time and raising kids. We really didn't unpaced or organized very well. At least not well enough for me! We married after we moved in, then lost Adam and then I got sick so it hasn't been fixed. This summer i was at home a lot as my son was borrowing my car a lot for his internship and summer job. I was suppose to be organizing and throwing out stuff we no longer need. There is a Good Will near my pool to drop the bags of at. Well it was not getting done. I had lots of excuses and exhaustion. I decided to take my angst and hire 2 high school girls a couple of days a week to help me sort. I also hired a part time cleaning lady. What a difference it has made. I am able to take it slow enough I do not over do and am all ready seeing results. I had to crunch our budget to do it but it is money well spent! It may not be the most exciting summer in the world but it is motivating me and giving me enough support to make some good changes.

No pics, but we went to a waterpark today. My almost 8 year old son and I teamed up, and we made sure that we did all of the "crazy" rides together. No lazy river or wave pool for us! It was a perfect day for this, and nice and hot.

It was also perfectly timed between my daughter getting her cast off from her broken wrist, and my impending trigger thumb surgery tomorrow.

imagine all these folks some with severe PsA doing normal things and living normal lives.......

EXACTLY!!! We are still living and enjoying life!!!

I had a mother and daughter summer while the dad was doing the same with out son. My daughter and I went to Atlanta and did the tourist things, then drove to Birmingham to visit family and then camp back to Memphis. A week ago we went to the One Direction concert in Nashville and had a blast.

Soon it will be football time in our house and it will be off to see both sons play.

You know Ellen says that we ALL need staff. We, like you, had to make some budget adjustments but we now have a cleaning lady come to the house every other week. The stress-reduction this has brought is amazing. No more arguing about whose turn it is to dust or vacuum. And we don't argue about dishes and other daily chores because the brunt of the housecleaning is taken care of. Good for you, Michael

Good for you Jane. I wish I had done it 10 years earlier but you are a quick study! My high school girls are helping me get rid of stuff and keep me motivated. I also work on it for an hour or so a day to impress them when they are back! Too funny!

My summer adventure has been trying not to fall asleep at work (seriously). After I had blood work done, the gyn said I won two prizes for: 1) the lowest Vitamin D level; and 2) the lowest thyroid replacement level she'd ever seen. Yay me.

I'm three weeks in to taking 50K units of Vitamin D once a week and 300 mcg/day of levothyroxine. No more sleepy at work, much less fog and more energy!

I had an ultrasound last week which led to an endometrial biopsy (won a prize there, too--OUCH!). The good news is NO cancer or hyperplasia, but I still have to see a specialist tomorrow. Double yay me.

I'm hoping for a fall or winter adventure which does not include seeing someone with M.D. behind his or her name. I'd like to go to a conference in New Orleans in January.
