I have 4 Macaws and 2 Boxers... will have to figure out how to post pictures..... they make me fight and give me the reason to get out of bed some days!! They are the best.... and I am even lucky to have a wonderful husband... he is my rock!
I love everybody's pets.... it's awesome to see how loved they all are!!!!!!
This afternoon I came across this photo of a kitten we lost to a road traffic accident about nine years ago. When we got him at a few weeks old he had the most dreadful cat 'flu and we nearly lost him several times but he pulled through. In the short time he was with us (less than a year) he touched our souls and changed our lives like no cat before or since. His name was Oscar and on bad days when he had really raspy breathing we called him Darth because he sounded like Darth Vadar from StarWars. He is buried in a corner of our garden, underneath a pretty tree which is now starting to blossom and always reminds me of this dear little chap.
My cat Brody keeps me laughing and up and moving because he loves to play all the time. One of his favorite games is hide and seek. I hide around a corner or door and he jumps out at me with both front paws in the air. Sometimes he pats me with his paw.
That's so cute - your cat going for a dog walk ! Love it !

So, here's a picture of Tillie, my usually grumpy kitty getting comfy on top of Mabel, my very neurotic puppy. Mabel was wearing her reindeer outfit for Christmas and for some reason Tillie found her irresistible. Mabel is 9 and Tillie is 11 and they have never ever laid like this before or since. Maybe it was the egg nog?
Since I got diagnosed, Tillie has become less and less grumpy and now sleeps with me every night. Even on the really bad nights when I'm in pain and restless she sticks with me. One memorable night I was rocking back and forth on the couch because things hurt so badly and I ended up on all fours trying to stretch out my shoulders and back and Tillie was perched high up on my back and wouldn't get off me for anything!
Great idea Stoney. Thanks so much for posting about the guide dog drop outs.

We have Guiding Eyes for the Blind in my area. But the list to get a dropout is ridiculously long. It's a multi-year waiting list.

I grew up having lots of pet as well. We always had a dog. As I currently live alone, having a dog presents some challenges. I recently read an article about service animals for people with autoimmune illness.
To summarize, from a practical stand point, someone with PsA may have trouble raising and training a puppy. But at the same time may not need a fully trained service dog. So the article suggests adopting the service dog program drop outs. A friend of mine knows of a local training facility that looks to place such animals. My current housing does not allow pets. But it is something I am definitely considering once I move.
My older chins have been with me 4 and 3 years. The babies are a year old this month. They are funny little things and have a lot of personality. For instance, Pandora, is the first one I got and she is my baby. When I got the little ones, she was mad at me for months! She just recently started to warm up to me again.

I loooooove chinchillas! How long have you had them? When my son wanted his “own” pet, one of the pets we researched was chinchillas, so I learned a lot about them. I’m so jealous you have so many!
I love the photos of everyone’s fur families… I have two dogs. Bella is a toy poodle, and Hunter is a Coton de Tulear. Both are rescues… I am big into rescuing animals, have fostered, and adopted many over the years. We are holding at two now… They are really wonderful company!
I don't know what a Coton de Tulear is. Do you have a photo to share?

Frances, here are photos of Bella and Hunter? Bella is the toy poodle (who needs to be groomed in the photo), and Hunter is the Coton just after being groomed…
Okay… Trying to add photos but it is not working…?
I so badly want to add pictures of my furry friends, but I all of my pictures are on my old computer...I have Bandit the Pug, and Heidi the Tabby cat. Both belonged to my husband before we got married, but they have officially adopted me as their person. In fact, the very first time I met my husband in person (we "met" on eharmony), he brought the dog. Bandit jumped up on the couch between us, snuggled into me, and pushed my husband away. It was love.
Heidi thinks she is a dog. She comes when you whistle. Its the funniest thing I ever saw, but it works. She was originally a stray. Walked into my husband's house one day and decided to stay. She's been with him ever since, but snuggles with me more than anyone else. In fact, most days I can be found in my recliner with Bandit and Heidi both staking out and claiming their territory on my lap.
Now that my Mother-in-law moved in with us, we have her cat, Peaches, too. She is a long haired tortoiseshell calico and Mema adopted her from the pound. She is GORGEOUS, but has a serious hairball issue. She is pretty shy, but I'll try to get pictures of all three and post them.
I honestly think I would have gone completely over the bend if it weren't for my furry kids. They provide unconditional love, and are the most compassionate creatures on the face of the earth when I'm hurting and having a bad day. If only Heidi would love me just a little bit less and stop giving me love nips on the chin....
