Need tips on icing my back & hips

Would appreciate any tips on how to ice my back and hips. Terrible pain from Psoriatic Arthritis in my hips and back this week 1 month on humira and increased prednisone but still in pain.

Thanks

There are rice filled hot / cold packs you can make or buy. I have a few stashed in my freezer at all times, and others I use for heat therapy. I have a very big "back size' one, 2 hand mitts, a bear for my kids for injuries, a cat one for the neck / shoulders, and another one which I forget. It's very helpful to have different weights, shapes, and sizes for different things. They can go right from the freezer to the microwave if you use one until the cold is gone, then throw it in the microwave for alternating the cold with hot (that helps some people).

There are also stick on patches that provide cold (as well as patches for heat). I've seen them in my drugstore.

If you mean HOW to physically do the icing, I take one of my rice packs and lay it on my bed, then lay on it in my pajamas. If I didn't have kids in the house I might do the same but naked under the covers!

I'm so sorry you are in so much pain. I hope either cold or heat helps you.

Thanks Marietta all your info is helpful. Gonna buy other icing items as you suggested.
