Miserable today stomach very swollen, severe fatigue, red rash on wrist

It began last night. After dinner I became so tired I had to lay down and not get up. Today it looks like I swallowed a beach ball. stomach very swollen. hard to breathe. red rash on the inside of one wrist. I take omeprazole rx with my meds. It feels like a lot of fluid retention. My weight is up as well.

If you haven't already done so, I would contact your doctor today. Doesn't matter if it's your rheumy, GP, etc. This is pretty sudden, and without a history of similar, then I would be concerned about the more extreme possibilities.

I second what Stoney said - call a doctor asap. Update us when you can!

family dr said go to er. have not heard from the rheumatologist. I am drinking water as fast as I can. My stomach is calming down. Today I haven't been drinking water like I normally do. I am very constipated. It may just be dehydration and constipation. Am going to see how I feel. I don't think it is emergent. Maybe my labs will show something. He did some nutritional studies last week. thank u all. my vp shunt can also make me feel bad if it's messed up. Do you all get so fatigued you can't even move?

Yes. I often have this severe fatigue. I feel like I must lay my head down, so I lie down in whatever room I happen to be in. And yes, many times even while standing or sitting, I cannot move a muscle. So at these times, I just get all the rest I can…

I went down stairs and on the last step both ankles suddenly hurt like they were splintering. Gasped in pain and my legs buckled. I have never done that before.

Praying you ok and feeling better!! Soon…

The rheumatologist called this morning. It is nothing serious, just a normal reaction to a steroid injection that I had last week. It didn't really occur to me that the injection could do this. I'm just very puffy and swollen. Bad fatigue. It is feeling better today. I was afraid the sulfazine or diclofenac had caused a reaction. Thank God it is nothing serious. I noticed I had been wanting to eat everything in sight, lol. He said it is just my body's reaction to the steroid he injected me with. The next time I will know to expect it. Today, I feel relieved. Just wanted to let you all know in case anyone else ever experiences this.

When I get extremely fatigued I try not to fight it. Often, I will just lay down. If I try to fight it I pay for it later.

Glad to hear that all is well.

So happy to hear you are alright that was scarey!! Thank you for bringing up extreme fatigue when I get like that lately I have to go to sleep it is better than fighting it!!

Why do you have a vp shunt? Just wondering… If you don’t mind telling

I had a ruptured aneurysm 4 years ago. It caused hydrocephalus. I can't absorb cerebral spinal fluid properly. The shunt drains it to my abdomen. I have had bad luck with shunts though. have had three in two years. This last one was put in July. Hopefully it will last. I'm very blessed to even be alive. Getting PsA depressed me but I hope I can learn to live with it. I got c diff after one of my brain surgeries which they think triggered PsA. I have a gene for it. Never had psoriasis until it was found in my nail recently.

Still in constant panic. It is just a reaction to the steroid. Hopefully it will be out of my system soon. Im drinking water and taking bentyl to calm the stomach spasms. Have gained lots of weight, irritable, insomnia. I munch on carrots and fruits rather than other stuff so I won't gain even more. Last night I acted like the devil, lol. It was not pretty.

I am sorry you are still feeling so awful!!! I am praying this quiets down for you soon!!

It just needs to get out of my system.I have had many steroid injections, This is the first time I have reacted like this. My doctor told me to take xanax for the panic. My neurologist has me on horizant. It is like a delayed release gabapentin. It helps with anxiety and restless legs. Stomach still very distended. My face is very swollen. I will keep drinking water and take my meds. hopefully it will be over with soon. thank you.

So sorry to hear you are still having issues! I guess it's one of those do what you have to do to get through it kinds of things. You mentioned munching on fruits and veggies - but make sure you get enough protein as well, or you may end up feeling worse. I hope you're feeling better soon!

I meant to say I just snack on vegetables. If anything I'm eating too much of everything. It's like I can't even stop eating. It seems like it easing up now. I can finally feel relaxed. I hope this reaction never happens again. Am trying to get a referral to PT so I can learn to release the piriformis. I have a yoga dvd for back and hip pain.

Ended up in the er all night. Stomach swelled up. Felt like I was being stabbed. I was allowed to go home but they asked me what all health issues I have. My pancreatic enzymes were elevated. Ct was normal. They want me to see the GI for further work up. I had my gallbladder removed last year but something is still wrong. I have had all kinds of scans which are all negative. Maybe my meds could cause elevated enzymes.

The er doctor said I have an infection somewhere. Urine was normal. He said he would not have expected my wbc to be so high since I am on doxycycline twice per day as part of myPsA treatment. My side is burning where my vp shunt catheter is. I really hope I do not have a shunt infection.
