Since becoming diabetic and being on MTX I’ve had several UTI’s since Jan…I have no symptoms with these other than a slight increase in the need to urinate. After the kidney stone episode in Jan the urologist told me in no uncertain terms I must get prompt treatment for any UTI in future.
2 nights of getting up once in the night and needing to pee more this morning, I dipped my urine at work…yep blood +++ and neutrophils +++ so nipped down to the urgent GP clinic within the hosp.
After supplying another sample, saw the doc.
He said "I’ll give you the good news first…congratulations you’re not pregnant!"
Made my day

I used to get UTI after UTI after UTI. I kept piridine (iodine pills) in the medicine cabinet because, as you well know, you typically get the worst symptoms after midnight on a Saturday night. Taking the iodine would help to minimize the irritation and sometimes it would help prevent the need for antibiotics. Just a thought.

Thanks Seenie, but I never feel ill with the UTI’s. (touch wood!) just have to be vigilant.
Bonus about the iodine:makes you pee the color of orange Popsicles!
I had never heard of Iodine tabs. Here in the states there is a drug called Pyridium sold OTC as Uristat that numbs the urinary tract. I wonder if it is similar as it also turns your urine orange.
Yep Michael think that’s is the iodine in the med…pretty sure it contains it

Oh and Uristat isn’t licenced for OTC in the UK as far as I know but I do know people who have bought it online…I will ask my pharmacist if we have an equivalent then she can check its ok for me to take it
