I started Enbrel about 3 months ago and have only been taking 50mg once a week. Has anyone taken 50/mg twice a week for 3 months as stated by the Arthritis Foundation? I'm very interested to hear what others have taken. I see my rheumy on Wed and I'm going to add this to my list of questions.
No, for some reason, the dosing is different for psoriasis and PsA. (If you look at the Enbrel monograph, you will see this. I don’t know why the AF is saying that.) If your derm prescribes it for your skin, you will take it twice a week for a few weeks. Your rheum, prescribing for PsA, will order it once a week. Don’t ask me why!
I'm going to send a message to the online Arthritis Today suggesting they look into that. This isn't the first time they have overlooked/made a mistake about PsA.

Yes, as I thought, on p.26 – http://www.amgen.ca/Enbrel_PM.pdf
Now that’s the Canadian monograph, but there’s no reason why it would be different from the US one.
I'm sure that the arthritis foundation does more for PsA patients than plant cookies on your 'puter and targeted Google (a huge package) advertising so that every page I open has at least one ad from those folks. In a strange quirk of fate Google has them listed as a frequent spammer and blocks them in chrome. While their fund raising is state of the art, their contribution to patients is somewhat less than stellar and way behind. Just about anybody can get an article into their magazine.
The double treatment for three months is for psoriasis, always has been. presence of skin lesions has long been used by rheumys to allow more frequent dosing. WAY back when there was a loading dose but that was when it was mixed from powder and 25mg.
I'm sending them a note asking them to correct this.
