How often do you inject,I do twice a week,is this normal when you first go on it? Will my rheumi reduce it to once a week?
Hi LL...I think it depends on the mg......You are probably on 2, 25mg injections a week. . They do have 50mg injections
No I’m on the 50mg injections twice weekly.
Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't, cut it back. 2X week is the recomended dosage for psoriasis. FWIW I take it every five days (or at least every day divisible by 5 - ie ending in 0 or 5) February is my favorite month. I just bareley see the scales coming back.....
If the psoriasis is under control and you aer starting to get relief, they may ct it back. Some Docs like to build the blood level up quickly.
I was on 2, 50mg a week for about 15 months. Switched rheummies, she said she was surprised my insurance co. approved the double dose for so long..She came out with copy of this,
Previous rheummy was getting ready to retire, and not keeping up with the latest stuff.
My joints felt fine, but the peelings were not going away, as with the Remicade i am on now
ENBREL Dosing for Moderate to Severe Plaque Psoriasis
ENBREL is an injection that can fit easily into your schedule. Your doctor will tell you how often you should use ENBREL. Do not use ENBREL more often than prescribed.
Moderate to severe plaque psoriasis dosing
For the first 3 months of treatment, adult patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis are typically given 50 mg twice a week (3 or 4 days apart). After 3 months, a reduced dose of 50 mg is given once per week. Some patients may experience a flare-up of symptoms of plaque psoriasis when beginning the reduced dose. In a clinical study, approximately 95% of patients did not experience a flare after a reduced dose. Be sure to follow your doctor's instructions.
Do not miss any doses of ENBREL. Call your doctor if you miss a dose of ENBREL. Your doctor will tell you when to take your missed dose.
Injection site reactions such as redness, rash, swelling, itching, or bruising may occur. These symptoms usually go away within 3 to 5 days. If you experience these reactions and they don't go away or get worse, call your doctor.
Please see Full Prescribing Information, Important Safety Information, and Medication Guide for complete details about ENBREL.

Hmm,I really am not having any flares on my skin at all since I’ve been on the meds.I guess this is more for the joint/tendon pain/swelling. I know that she had mentioned Orencia if the Enbrel didn’t work,I think part of the problem is I have symptoms of both PsA & RA.Its not really a problem but I hadn’t heard of many people injecting twice weekly.
Me Lindsey, RA and PSA, RA first
it was hard to get that pustular psoriasis under control, so many expensive ointments, but the Remicade did the trick
I did start with Enbrel in 2000, 2 25mg injections, we had to mix it back then..the powder into the liquid, and shake it
but i got those peelings maybe 3-4 yrs ago..was nasty,.blistery peelings on soles of feet, and palms, but it's all good now....just a few tough spots, on palms left, like a callous
The PSA tendon pain is terrible, and i like to use Ace Bandages on those joints when flaring'
take care
Hi Deb, i was reading your bio a bit..i do have old damage on left thumb, a bump . And it's inside the palm, below the thumb, rheummy says tendon sheath. Haven't gone to a hand ortho yet
And i do get pain when flaring in my knee replacements, it's still possible.
This rheummy is not a poker and prodder, but when things are bad, i can't hardly move my arms.
I know a lot of posters can't take Mtx, it's when i am off of it, i get horrible pain, it does work well for me
