I am wanting to change my injection day from Mondays to Sundays. I was wondering if anyone has experience on this. Should I skip a week ( not my first choice) or is it OK to do a day earlier (preffered)? I have injected very early before work like 5am but on Sunday could do later in evening to make the switch less than 15 hours earlier than usual. My rheumy covered delays for illness or infection concerns but not this. I can call just wondering if it is possible to do easily or if anyone else has done this.
Yes, I have changed day. Of course it’s easier to push ahead one day every week, but doing that will take you six weeks to get there. Give the Enbrel help line a call. They know exactly how to do this.
What I would do (and I am not a doctor and this does not constitute medical advice and I am not suggesting that you do it without calling the E-people first and you are not me and and and LOL) I’d move from 5 am Monday to bedtime Sunday. Then dinnertime the next week then … etc. I figure an eight hour variation in a seven day cycle isn’t going to make a heck of a lot of difference over the long run. But what do I know? Call Enbrel and tell us what they say.
Thanks Seenie I will do that. I know what you mean seems so simple but its best to be sure. I’ll let you know what they say tomorrow.
I needed to do this when on Enbrel and just called my rheumy to get the go-ahead to inject sooner. I usually did Saturday morning, so instead did Friday night one week, and then Friday morning the next to get to my preferred Friday morning injection.
I just go a day earlier. I did it this past week to get back to Fridays. Enbrel is pretty mild. I started out taking it twice weekly for three months.
Thanks, guys. Got the OK to do early. Enbrel hotline suggested calling rheumy but said it was close enough basically. Woke up from a nap and suddenly have huge sores at my last sites? One is 3 inched in diameter and from Monday the other is one inch and two weeks old. Now I am too afraid to inject tonight as I have had no reaction until now. Any suggestions? Are these normal sized reactions? Red, firm and hot to touch?
I would wait until tomorrow. I know it screws you up with moving it back, but that seems odd that you would have from one and two weeks ago. They aren't massive, but still. . . . I would call the rheumy tomorrow. Red, firm and hot to touch, I would be wondering if there were some sort of infection.
That’s what I suspected too. I didn’t have the two week old one when I did the one Monday. Figured it wasn’t normal when all the info says 3-5 days after. Really appreciate your quick response. Thank you. I will hold off until after work tomorrow if rheumy OKs it.
A few weeks in, the old sites started acting up on me as well. I started getting a big site reaction too. (At one point, 4-6 inches across.) All of the “spots” were red, slightly raised and warm, kind of like the biggest bug bite you ever saw. And they iiiiiitched. Called Enbrel and they were not concerned. The “phantom” sites eventually went away. I used generous amounts of anti-itch cream (Walmart’s house brand) and that worked well.
May as well call the rheumy, but I doubt that it’s anything to worry about.
I haven’t had a site reaction in a while. Tonight I injected, and I’ve got one again. Weird, don’t know why that happens.
Oh thank you Seenie! It is itchy decided to put hydrocortisone on and it helped with the redness. Took a benedryl and going to have high hopes for tomorrow. Freaked me out some and honestly just had a quick cry and knowing it could be OK helps more than I can tell you. I was OK with out Embrel being the “immediate miracle” I was hoping for but not ready to accept defeat with yet another med that starts working but then my body rejects it. I’ve been allergic or intillerent of anything for PSA so far. I handle most of the stuff for symptoms but we all know that’s all they will ever do. Help when needed but not manage anything long term. I NEED long term!
Don’t know why it happens but I do know that it does not signal defeat. Onward!
:-( I hope that reaction is just temporary! All I got starting with the 3rd or 4th injection was a red blotch, but it wasn't sore or itchy. It stopped after about the 8th shot.....then, two weeks ago I got a huge bruise at my injection site, which was in my stomach. It had bled when I injected, which usually doesn't happen when it's in my stomach. I sure hope Enbrel starts working for you, Rachael.
That's good to know Seenie. Rachael, let us know what the rheumy says.

I will let you know what she says for sure and thank you all so much! What a great community and response. I went from stressed out and in tears to calm and collect . I know it was an a major set back but think I have been “faking” some need to let out. Either way it is a day I can!
Well, after shower this morning found my back, thighs, arms and stomach covered in rash and itchy. Called rheumy and guess this happens not to worry! Said to skip this weeks injection and will send me info on humera if I choose to switch. So frustrating I guess I wait and see. She suggested claratin to help which I take in spring summer anyway and almost did today because the weather is so warm but didn’t because of the rash.lol.
