What I'd Give to Be Able to Wear Boots and Shoes!

I'm in...shoe support group! :)

OK, fine, sign me up! My husband will be happy I have joined a shoe support group! BUT, does this mean you guys are giving me more places to buy shoes? Hehehe

Y'all thinking I'm joking but I'm not ! I'm trying to making an appointment with the Clevelend Clinic, Ohio Podiatry office during my visit at the rheumatology dept that I have on Feb 15th. I'm going to ask about custom made shoes, orthodics and other shoe options for psoriatic patients. If I have to plan a trip to a foreign country to find shoes for us I will !

I'll keep you posted .

always warmly,

Frances

PLEASE let us know what you find out!!!!

I used to have terrible problems with my right achilles tendon. It was before I was diagnosed with PsA. At the time I played squash a lot, and I put the pain down to that. Once I started treatment, the tendon problem cleared tight up.

I wasn't able to get an app't with a podiatrist t the Cleveland clinic, but have not stopped my search for fashion shoe options for us.

For what it's worth, Cleveland Clinic told me to forget about fashion and wear orthopedic shoes. :-( Not exactly what I wanted to hear. I did find soft, custom-made orthotic inserts to be very helpful. (The hard ones made my feet hurt worse!) They're tough to use in a lady's fashion shoe, though. You'd think some enterprising business person would see the market for helping women with foot problems!

I definitely want to joint the shoe support group. I've said for years I need a 12-step program for shoes! (And purses, coats, jewelry, and ...)

A 12-Step program for shoes, indeed! The best fashion solutions I’ve found for orthotic-friendly footwear is Munro and Aetrex.
It’s particularly cruel when a disease robs us off our shoes. Only a woman would understand.

Thanks for the tip on the sites. Hubby said my new shoes came today! I'm so sad I am not there to open them but I have something to look forward to when I get home on Saturday! I am however throughly enjoying my snow boots I had to buy Saturday to come to Idaho this week. I may decide to just wear them to train in instead of changing to my shoes! They are quite comfy and very stylish!

Don't think for a minute you're unique in your obsessive love of shoes! If you're looking for a brand that is fashionable, comfortable and orthotic-friendly, check out Munro American. They are very pricey, but heck, you're only going to buy one pair. Right? ;-)

Oh, I saw your subject and had to post. I confess I did not read all the posts. Those of you who know me know how I love my shoes, guess you could call it an obession - agree guys? I am so looking for the best and most comfortable pair I can wear, but they have to be stylist too. Worst person ever here to talk about shoes, love them, need them, want them. Sigh, nothing better than a great pair of shoes - unless you throw a purse in as well.. OK so I know I am no help and I probably need help, just saw the subject and started to need shoes. Sorry, leaving here now, hope others will help you better than me!

You just mentioned all of my favorite things! It is unfortunate (?) that I passed this obsession to my daughter. My son-in-law was fussing recently about her shoes and purses, she stood up, took him by them hand and walked to my closet. He sadly came back to the family room and said to my husband that he guessed it was a losing battle and he should just learn to live with it. My husband just handed him a beer. So yes, I should probably be a charter member of the 12-step shoe program!

not that but nerve damage and can't even wear shoes. i am "running" around in my sleepers :) not exactly very professional for work, but helpful - no pain :)

PSA sucks big one.

I’ve worn orthotics since I was 13. And I have size 12 feet sadly I am not a member of the shoe and purse club. Me and my wide new blance sneakers and my sandles in the summer. I wear my crocs around the house. I have fuzzy ones too for when it is cold.

I just received sandals I ordered from Footsmart.com and they are sooooo comfortable. I was very surprised at how comfortable they are. If you are interested in checking them out: http://www.footsmart.com/P-Vionic-with-Orthaheel-Technology-Womens-Jessica-Thong-Sandals-75119.aspx

Also, I always do a search for a coupon before I order. I just google footsmart coupons.

Happy shopping gals !

I wear a WW width shoe--that's a lot of fun with PsA feet. I wore Easy Spirits for many years, until the PsA started working on the ol' feet. I need to buy some new TicTacToe ballerina looking shoes for being in court--at least those still work for me, but they're not particularly supportive. Need to get over my bad self and just go back to the Drew I bought a couple of years ago for every day. Sigh.
