Two months in on Humira and I had to take a week off due to a stomach virus that hit me and my school. Every pain came back with in three days. It literally felt like I had been hit by a bus. My sinuses filled almost immediately, and I could barely walk due to pain in my legs. I forced myself to go to school but could barely walk to my room. I continued to push through until I got the ok to take my shot again. I didn't realize all the other ways this stupid disease is effecting me until they all hit again. Thankfully, after taking my shot, my life came back in about 2 days.
I have been learning so much but I am still amazed at how much this thing effects us. In retrospect, I probably have had this for a very long time. Just found out that a friend from junior high also has been diagnosed - finally, someone in the real world that understands how crazy this thing is. On the plus side, Humira has allowed me to take a few classes toward my Masters degree, and keep myself busy - I feel like I have most of my life back again. Take care everyone and have a great week.
So great that you checked in! I was wondering how you’ve been. Two forward, one back is still moving ahead. Great news in the long run, Diva, but your time off Humira sounds horrible. Makes you appreciate it, doesn’t it? I sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had this disease a generation ago. I shudder.
Hope you can keep moving forward without any side trips in the reverse direction!
Thanks, Seenie, I wish the same to you. Hope things are going well for you and your health. My GP is on board with the PsA diagnosis and told me that my previous allergy, sinus problems and asthma may be involved as well. So tomorrow I go for another battery of tests to see if the thyroid is working right, extended diabetes test and the normal liver tests for medication stuff.
Hey Seenie, I haven’t been on for some time so I am glad you contacted me. I’ve been really busy working on my Masters degree. We lost my sister last summer and I decided it was time to finish the program so I am forcing myself to just do it. I will be done next summer. Humoral is still working well sed rate is down to 22 but still hurting. I’ve been taking one aspect at a time and trying to resolve things. I think I’ll post a blog entry to explain that. I hope you are doing well and enjoying the summer. Take care!
