Throbbing legs

I have taken Enbrel twice in the past 10 years for about a year each time. In between those times,I was functioning well on Meloxicam/Mobic, alone. I recently had a very bad flare in Sept and restarted Enbrel. I have not had the same results this time. Unfortunately, I have had mini flare ups a few times a month that luckily have “resolved” without further medical treatment such as Prednisone or MTX. Three weeks ago I landed in another fare up and it has not relented. Almost every joint is painful and stiff (mostly on the left side) and especially my SI joint. Extreme fatigue and bouts of nausea. The one symptom that is new is the throbbing pain and heavy feeling in my lower extremities. I cannot stand for longer than 3 or 4 minutes and it is problematic now at rest. Has anyone had this deep throbbing ache/pain?
I have an appt with my Rheumy on Monday to discuss tx options. I take Enbrel 50 mg 1/week and Meloxicam 15mg. Also, my psoriasis is spreading and I have a pit in one of my nails. Thank you to anyone that can relate.

Hi Angela! It sounds like the Enbrel isn't doing it for you this time. Some people build up an immunity - and having been on it twice already, that could be the case. Have you considered a different biologic?

The heavy throbbing in the legs is something I experience when my meds aren't working - it makes it very difficult to stand for prolonged periods of time or to walk. It's definitely worth talking with your doctor about. I hope s/he can shed some light on the situation and find you relief soon!

Thank you for your thoughts. I’m not sure if there is a connection, but my RBC is low and I’ve dropped a couple of points in my HGB, as well. I wonder if this could be bone marrow edema…?? Thank you, again for contributing your time.

I've had deep pain in my legs as well, and I know it has been discussed here before. I wish I could contribute more wisdom but I am still learning about all this and I am not sure what causes the leg pain beyond knowing it is the PSA.

Thank you for relating your experiences. I wish you well. This is a great site and I feel very thankful for everyone’s input.
