Since the last time I wrote on here I started taking humria and once in awhile arthrotec and was some what feeling better. I only take arthrotec when I need something. It causes my cycle to go out of whack and I bleed for a couple weeks. Which I have take to my doctor about and he said well kinda a catch 22 just depending on whether I want to put up with the side effects. How ever I feel lately that the humria isn’t working and it feels like my ribs are squeezing my lung, when I role over in bed it feels like they move and if I lay on my back I can’t breathe, lately it always feels like I can’t breathe my ribs hurt so much and I’m so tiered all the time. I feels like I want to grab my ribs and pull them open so I can breathe. I’ve told the doctor and my oxen levels are good so nothing gets done. Does anybody have rib pain And how do you deal with it
You'll want to talk to your doctor about the pain, but it sounds an awful lot like costochondroitis, which isn't too uncommon with PsA. My impression is that there isn't much that can be done about it, other than lowering inflammation levels in general. I hope you start feeling better soon.
I get this from time to time. It was really bad when I first started to have extreme swelling in my foot. It was so bad that I would wake up in the middle of the night and could not get back to bed, I would have to take T3 or stronger to even attempt to get back to sleep, it would even hurt to breathe. When I went to the Ontario arthritis society to be assessed the pt said that these symptoms usual mean back involvement She gave me a bunch of stretches to try and do in the morning before I get out of bed. I have found since starting my treatment of MTX and Leflumoide that I dont get these pains every day. They do come back some times but nothing "yet" as intense as the first time this occurred. Hang in there hopdfully this will get better.
One of the reasons I changed from Enbrel to Remicade was because the PsA in my ribs (and back and hips) wasn't getting better on Enbrel. You can have PsA in your ribcage ... or it could be costochondritis, which is fairly common in people with PsA. It's definitely not fun to live with - I hope you find something that gives you relief soon.
