Last week I woke up like nothing was wrong and by the afternoon had an excruciating external hemorrhoid form. No risk factors, never had one, didn't do any of the things listed as triggers for them. I'm in a huge PsA flare and I think my body just decided to inflame the only place it had never tried for yet! Nothing from my GP helped with the inflammation.
I finally saw a specialist on Monday and he said after 7 days 85% of people have this condition resolve on their own, obviously mine wasn't. So I'm having minor outpatient surgery tomorrow around noon tomorrow. I'm not excited because every time I have surgery I have a rebound flare. My body hates being messed with. UGH!
Oh, and my online pharmacy just voided my Stelara prescription after 10 days of working through the system because they lost the prior authorization from my dr. Looks like I'll be waiting even LONGER before I get my new med. I know everyone there is just minimum wage employees tied to the computer system, but geez, you'd think I wouldn't have to go through this EVERY TIME I change biologics.
I'm so sorry, but seriously? This line has me in tears, "I'm in a huge PsA flare and I think my body just decided to inflame the only place it had never tried for yet!"
I have my fingers crossed (sort of ) for you and hope that there is no post-op wrath from the PsA. I wish you the best recover ever.
Thanks everyone for your well-wishes! I have an update.
I had my outpatient surgery on Thursday, and my blood pressure was REALLY high....152 over 90, when normally it is 90 over 70. Everyone figured it was the prednisone I'd been taking for 2 weeks for this out of control flare.
So I've been recovering my surgery while at the same time doing a rapid taper of the prednisone, which means my joints are flaring back up. So my butt hurts, AND everything else. And I'm super cranky. And my face broke out. Still got several days of 5mg prednisone to taper, then off. Should be super fun! ;P
My Stelara is STILL stalled at the online specialty pharmacy. They keep calling about Cimzia despite me telling me to delete it from their system and send me the Stelara, which has already been through the prior authorization process. ARGH! I was hoping to get started on my loading doses this week.
Oh, this was odd. The pain medication that usually works well for arthritis pain did nothing for my surgical pain. The dr. had to call in something that worked a bit differently. It was like I wasn't even taking the first medication in terms of surgical pain. Something that didn't even occur to me might be a problem.
At any rate, I'm 4 days out from my surgery and am very slowly recovering. Thanks again everyone for your good wishes! It was a little overwhelming to have another random medical problem on top of everything else.
Good wishes! That sounds like no fun. Hopefully you can find a good book or some good movies to stay occupied. Pain meds don’t work for me very well anymore either. Something that knocks my husband out doesn’t even faze me Kinda stinks! Hopefully your pain tolerance is built up along with your med tolerance. Just kidding. Hopefully the new pain reliever will help!! I have taken so much ibuprofen I have an ulcer. that’s why I’m up so late… Tummy ache.
