Hi all,

I am 51 years old and recently retired as a professional firefighter. I was diagnosed with PsA about six years ago and was on Methotrexate (Mtx) for about a year and a half back then. For me, it's been a balancing act between being on meds and dealing with the disease. Changing my diet has helped a lot but I went back on the Mtx last week. This time injectable and wow, did I feel horrible the next day. I am hoping my body gets used to it and it's get's better.

Hello PBK. Since you joined we have set up our Newbies Guide to PsA where there is a wealth of information about treatments. You have, though, done incredibly well to have managed six years in such a manual job and that is really encouraging .... it's stopped me in less than half that time. Even though you are having your mtx by injection this time round you still need the folic acid to offset the side-effects and, as always, drinking plenty of water is essential. Is your rheumy planning to get you on a biologic in the future?
