I have been on treatment for uveitis for 8 days. THe redness is mostly gone. My eye still hurts and the light flashes are getting worse. My eye lid is also quite droopy. I called the ophthalmologist yesterday about all this and I was told that it's all normal and that it will "take a while" for this to heal.
It seems like the light flashes should be improving and not getting worse. When I mentioned them to the eye doctor at my visit on Tuesday, he didn't seem concerned about them. Of course, I start googling it and keep reading that light flashes are indicative of retinal detachment.
If you have had experience with light flashes and uveitis, please respond so that I can feel better about this. For some reason, I am not handling this is well as I handle my other psoriatic arthritis pains.
Also, please excuse any typos. I can't see very well.
Thanks,
Miz Que
No help, just sending you well wishes. I hope you start getting more relief soon.
MiZ Que I am so sorry for your troubles. I have had uveititis and I do not remember light flashes though that does not mean it did not happen. I understand your anxiety. I only have one functioning eye and I to get a little excited over eye things. What I remember about detached retina was more like a curtain falling or closing, not flashes of light. I think i would ride out the weekend and call on Monday and ask to be examined again. At least it will put your mind to ease. My thoughts and prayers are with you. It will feel better soon.
I would be concerned about the light flashes as they are indeed a symptom of retinal detachment. Unfortunately, it's Friday evening and everything is closed but the ER and urgent care. If you are really concerned then it's time to act, right?
Thanks to all who replied. Things always look better the next day, don't they? My brother in law passed away yesterday, so I think part of my eye drama was me being upset about his passing. I am going to sit tight with my eye and trust my new eye doctor that the flashing lights are not a bad sign. From tons of internet reading, it seems that Uveitis can take weeks to heal. I cannot expect is to be healed in just over a week. As with all inflammation, it will wax and wane. It's time to put my big girl panties on and buck up.

So sorry about your brother in law.
