I can't think of a title

It's 3 a.m., I can't sleep because I forgot to take a Tylenol pm.....

Earlier in the evening I realized I forgot to inject my Enbrel on Tuesday (I think). I had injected last Thursday instead of Saturday, then I was going to inject this Tuesday, and then Saturday to get back on my every Saturday schedule. I took the injector out of the frig and got it to room temp, prepped my site with alcohol, pulled out the needle cover and was just about to inject when I started thinking maybe I injected on Tuesday! I CAN'T REMEMBER for the life of me if I did. Usually I leave the used sureclick injector out a day or two before I get around to putting it in the needle container, and neither my husband or I can remember one laying on the cupboard. But it seems like yesterday that I put a bandaid on that little spot--except I can't even remember what side of my stomach I injected last! OMG this is brain fog at its best!!!....or worst???

Ah, hell with it--I'm injecting now. Somehow I'll get back on my Saturday schedule......and I'm marking my calendar this time!!!!

I get this with new meds, and when I’m tired, especially. Usually I remember if I’ve forgotten to take something, but sometimes I just have no idea. I bought one of those pill containers marked with the days of the week to help me, but my poor fingers can’t open its fiddly little flaps, so I can’t use it! I don’t know what the solution is, Grandma J, but you have my sympathy!

LOL, I just went through that same dilema a month ago! With humira injections every two weeks and changing my date because I forgot a day I couldn’t remember for the life of me. Yes, mark the calendar and find humor in how many times you have to look at it to see what day it was, but at least you’ll know. Remember also you used to take double doses so at least it won’t harm you if it was early by accident.

LOL--That was me on Sunday, including saying the same thing and injecting.

When I missed two doses of Humira in January, I forgot to change my text and e-mail reminders. Yep, for over a month, I've been doing the "now when did I inject" and "how many days to another one" watusi AND thinking I need to change that every time I get a text or e-mail. (I finally changed it before posting here). I got a little tablet for Christmas--something tells me even if I start using that third reminder, I'll still be doing the watusi.

I keep forgetting too. I once took my dog's viagra tablet by mistake. It is called something else for pets & used for circulatory problems. I used to come home from work, make a pot of tea straight away, get the dog's pill out while I was waiting for the tea to brew ... well I could remember completing that sequence .... but dog was still asleep and the pill was no longer by the teapot. Vaguely remembered putting something in my mouth .... perked me up, mind.

ROFL!!!

Seriously though, is it brain fog? Or just that it's something we get so used to doing quickly, in between a hundred other things, that it's hardly memorable. I bet you never forgot whether or not you'd taken Enbrel in the early days when it was a big deal .... I like that the tablets and injections barely ruffle the surface of my addled brain these days!

I don't think it's brain fog. I think it's so much a part of our regular routines that we just don't remember.

I never forgot about MTX but MTX was always a big deal. I would let Paul get the box but nothing else--I didn't him even touching the bottle because I didn't want him poisoned (I'm not really as neurotic as that sounds but sheesh, that stuff had big ol' THIS IS CHEMO stickers everywhere). Then I would get everything out of the box, look at the needle, fill the syringe, look at the needle again to make sure it was straight, did it get a bubble?, work that out, look at it seven or eight times to make sure I was taking the right amount and it didn't have a bubble, find a spot, worry about the needle going in subq, worry about the lump (because there usually was one), get the top back on (all the while making sure I didn't stick myself). Big deal.

Humira isn't any more. I get the injector out of the refrigerator, take my shower, find a (left or right) spot, off with the top, off with the top over the needle, pop! Count to 30 and done.

We've all done it! I think sixcat's right. It's kind of like driving to work, pulling into the parking lot and suddenly you have no recollection of the drive ... the lights... the traffic ... the mall ... nope, somehow you just found yourself there.

You just do the best you can, GrandmaJ, and I'm sure you'll get back to Saturday somehow. Maybe via Groundhog day. LOL

The BIG "O" teehee!!! Did I get your attention?

Omg I'm so glad I started this discussion--I had forgot about it haha! Thanks for the good laughs! Omg, Sybil, don't lie about "accidentally" taking your dog's viagra--sure you didn't want to experience a 4-hour orgasm!!???? I hope nobody's offended--I just had to give it to Sybil--she knows I'm kidding!!!

Seenie, yes yes yes, been there, done that, many times, (I think)!

Sixcatlawyer, me too,--anal about a few things--if I took mtx those warnings would cause a brain explosion!

Rachael, true--it really shouldn't scare me to shoot up two days apart cuz I've never had SEs from it.

Flow, geez that sucks about your fingers. Mine are sort of weird--a little pain, a little numb. I had to sew 6 buttons on my husband's jeans that evening (because he's now using suspenders--I have a few pairs to go-24 buttons total-and I'm not looking forward to it) also and my fingers and shoulders were sooooo sore yesterday from the tension I had trying to push the needle through that stiff jean fabric!

Back to the reason for this discussion--you'll never believe this--after I said I was going to inject right then, I looked at the injector, thought a little longer, and decided to wait one more day. Oh the agony of worrying my exposed needle picked up bacteria somehow!

LOL!!! My poor ribs are hurting from laughing so hard on that one!

Grandma J! I'm shocked! You've outraged my very delicate sensibilities. And don't you realise that would kill me?

Oh, Sybil, I'm so, so, SOOOO sorry! I didn't know! Really! Well, you need a little encouragement: what didn't kill you only made you better! hahahahahahaha! Did your dog start looking at you in a "different" way after that? I'm so sorry, you shouldn't have got me going.....

I know you don't have virgin ears--you just don't strike me as that type of person. So, haha! Ooops, and at least you'd die smiling or whatever facial expression you'd have....omg, I apologize everybody, but I have 3 grown daughters and if you know girls nowadays you know why I can say these things! LOL

The enbrel I do not forget as I stress about the whole day before. I find it to really hurt. I have 2 tatoos and have had several biopsies surgery and plenty of is and shots throughout the years but it hurts so bad. I do have trouble forgetting my blood pressure meds and the folic acid though sometimes.

Scienceteach, do you use the Sureclick injectors? Sometimes mine hurt, too, and sometimes they are completely painless! I think they hurt more when I don’t let the alcohol dry all the way and when I don’t warm the injector fully up to room temperature. I hope Enbrel starts working well for you–then you won’t mind the pain of the injection that much.

Scienceteach- I put up with the sure clicks for over a year but I started having trouble with too much bruising, too much leakage, etc. I tried out the prefilled syringes and haven’t looked back since! I find that it is virtually painless, and if it starts to get uncomfortable, I slow down, an option that doesn’t exist with the auto injectors. If you find that this is a problem and causing you so much stress, this may be something to consider.
