Got a new Rheumie! And adding methotrexate back in

Amazingly didn’t take long and now I have a rheumie a whole 8 minute drive from my house and he seems really good, knowledgeable, and proactive. He wants to keep the Rinvoq going but also add methotrexate back, at a bit of a lower dose (3 tablets weekly). He said it should help the Rinvoq work longer as I have switched biologics a few times.

Anyone heard of this before ?

Also - he’s going to see about getting me on a new osteoporosis drug called Romosozumab (Evenity) which consists of 12 monthly shots, it’s supposed to help rebuild bone as opposed to some of the older meds that just work to keep the bone you have.

Anyone heard of this either ?

Nice to have a good fruitful appointment, sucks to have more meds. Any input is more than welcome !!!

Wow that sounds pretty good. Adding mxt back in is tried and tested method of enhancing treatment. I so hope it helps you.

I take a monthly osteoporosis med called Ibandromic acid. I’m nearly at the end of my 5 year treatment plan. And it’s certainly worked a treat for me. I’m a complete convert to all and any osteoporosis meds since I suffered 7 consecutive fractures over a two or three year period. Once I started meds for it, I haven’t broken anything since and my DEXA scan now shows normal bone density. That’s good enough for me.

Wow Poo, that’s very encouraging rebuilding bone mass.

I was lucky as my rheumy pushed the osteoporosis med on me fast. It’s completely amazed me too.
