Tim I’m so glad you got to the eye doc - uveitis really is an emergency and you need to get into the Rheumy ASAP now to get some systemic treatment as well (I’m hoping when you said anti inflammatory that is steroids?). Don’t wait for the doc referral process - harass your Rheumy, being sure to tell them you have a Dx of Uveitis.
Uveitis can occur for lots of reasons, but like most things with this disease, it’s not likely it is properly controlled until your whole disease is under control - which means you need an effective DMARD NOW. Yes, sorry, I know I am shouting at you, but it’s because I’d like to shout at your Rheumy clinic. It’s not unreasonable whilst you are harassing them for an emergency appointment to mildly remind them you don’t want to go blind waiting for them.
This is the Gap and you’ll get through it, but I wish for you that you don’t get any permanent damage in the process. Big hugs too, it really does suck. (But it does get better).
Thank you for your concern. This group is really wonderful! I will be getting on the Rheumie in the morning so that I can at least get a DX. My eye drops are Prednisolone, doing 4x per day right now. It is a steroid medication. I’m feeling bad this evening, no energy, slept all afternoon and still feel lousy.
I think I know how you feel. My thrilling PsA ‘journey’ started with the mother of all flares.
I still enjoy complaining bitterly but, well, I guess I’m now officially an old lady but even with that + PsA I can, sometimes, run. Be persistent and travel very hopefully. Hope is entirely reasonable with all this.
I hope to feel better soon, the steroids for my eyes are helping to keep the burning and watering down but I can still feel some discomfort. The last couple of days my energy had bottomed out, can’t sleep enough. Can’t wear my ring because my hand is still swollen. Hoping to get into the Rheumie ASAP.
Well it’s been an interesting day. Started at the ophthalmologist, was sent immediately to a Rheumatologist in Atlanta where I finally got the PsA diagnosis. Starting treatment today. Guess I’m a member of the club now
Wow! Welcome to the club! It’s an exciting place to be. See, when you present with uveitis, it can really hustle things along. The good news for you, is that you can get started on meds immediately, and will likely progress to biologics in no time. What meds are they starting you on?
You must be exhausted. Two visits in one day. Oh geez, you’re in Atlanta? The hot bed of all protests right now?
Yes lol we got in and back out as soon as we could. Dr. Started me on Prednisone for now with a follow up next Thursday to see how things are going. Also treating the eye inflammation with a new steroid. He said I should start feeling better soon. I’m so tired, I feel like I haven’t slept in days.
Thank you. I’m thankful that I didn’t have to wait as long as many members had to wait for a Dx. I found a list of symptoms from a few years ago and most symptoms on the list were associated with PsA.
Welcome to the club! You went a bit overboard with your application though - you seem to have acquired just about every classic PsA symptom at lightening speed!
Glad you’ve got a firm dx now and are going in the right direction - that’s so good to hear!
Ha ha yes I did. It’s actually been building for some time and I really feel like I’ve been in a flare for over a year. I think my first real wake up call was when my Achilles heel began getting stiff and hurting. After that, my symptoms began to progressively get worse.
Welcome to the club. Now please put your feet up and try and relax and get that fever issue seen to. Mind you with steroids you might feel like a wind up toy that can’t stop. Take the daily dose of steroids as early in the day as possible. And truly try and chill a bit. You’ve had a heck of a lot going on these last few weeks. It can and does get a whole lot better although that takes some time, so hang on to that.
Just an update here. Was prescribed MTX and Humira, started my first round of MTX last night. Not too bad, feeling a little weak and tired today, little bit of nausea but not enough to need meds for it. Will start the Humira on Sunday. Hoping to feel better soon.
