I’ve started preparing for an upcoming move to the USA and discovered that the Eucerin products available on that side of the Atlanic aren’t the same as those available in Europe.
For example, the red cap US varieties of the lotions don’t clearly state the percent of urea that the formulas contain. And the Eucerin DermoCapillaire Calming Urea Leave-in Scalp Treatment doesn’t seem to be sold at all in America! I’ve loved this stuff as something that’s helped keep my head from itching at night during psoriasis flare-ups… since coal tar shampoos are been pretty drying.
Is anyone in the US familiar with the Eucerin leave-in treatment or something you can buy in America that’s similar? I can stock up before I leave, but any supply I take with me will only last so long…
I’m sure you’ll get replies from folks in the US (I’m in the UK). But I checked whether amazon.com sell Balneum cream, which has a high urea content (and other Balneum products) and they do.
Walmart and Walgreens have the full line where I live including Eucerin DermoCapillaire Calming Urea Leave-in Scalp Treatment. Ask the pharmacist. There are multiple on-line sources as well. I called Sally beauty supply (a national chain) and they also have it. FWIW though my grandaughter gets a similar but much better/stronger product compounde for her by her pharmacist. (also a whole lot cheaper)
Thanks! I’d looked amazon.com and the websites of Target and CVS and thought (when I couldn’t find it there) that it must not actually be available in the US. Because if it isn’t in the top 10 results on Amazon, it doesn’t exist, right ? But I’ll check out Balneum as well, since I’m not particularly brand-loyal… but just want something that’s easy to find and gets the job done. Hadn’t actually thought to scout around the beauty store chains (in addition to pharmacies), so that’s great advice.
Thanks, Frances! I’ve heard of Ciclopirox before but am unfamiliar with Valerate. So far I’ve had mostly good results with clobetasol propionate shampoo… but know that it’s important not to overuse it and so have been waiting until the plaque truly comes back before dosing again, which means there’s an annoying in-between period of a few weeks where there isn’t really much plaque, but it just itches…
It looks like Betamethasone Valerate is a medium strength corticosteroid, so maybe it’s safer than clobetasol propionate for extended intermittent topical use?
