I had a bit of a scare tonight. I was lying down when I got very dizzy, could form a coherent sentance and was having trouble seeing. I am not diabetic
Thank GD my daughter stays calm in these situations. She checked my sugar and in nose dived down to 84. She was able to get it back up.
My question is if anybody has any idea why it would do this, certain meds maybe?
That’s pretty scary sounding. 84 isn’t low, unless it was falling super fast, which could cause symptoms. Certainly prednisone can screw up blood sugars, but that drives them high.
I would call the doctor on Monday and before if it happens again. The blood sugar may have no relation at all.
I think it did drop quickly. When I started getting dizzy the doctor gave me a meter and told me to monitor it for a month. We found I start having issues when it gets below 105. This only happened once before but I was all ready in the hospital for something else, They caught it at 45. At the same time my BP also got insanely low. But this is the 1st time since then it got below 90 that I know of.
It scared me this time cause I couldn't form my thoughts or words clear enough to tell my husband what I needed. My daughter called him (he was in the other room) and walked him through fixing it. I know it's back up to a safe level but I still feel off and not completely coherent.
I'm not on any steroids but I do I wonder also if it could have anything to do with the time of the month it is.
I had reactive hypoglycemia for a few years after the birth of my first child. Big spikes up, fast drops down, and I regularly tested in the forties. In terms of time of the month, I find that Intend to have inflammation greatest premenstraul, and as my hormones shift 24 hours before getting my period, it dies back.
If you’ve already seen a doctor then you probably have some of the basic food stuff down. Limit your sugars, no fruit by itself, etc. Small meals too. you can ask for a referral to a nutritionist as well.
For tonight, make sure to follow up with a small balanced snack. Feel better soon.
It never gets high only low but a small bite before bed is probably a good idea. Thanks Stoney said:

105 is to high for fasting BS! Anything over 100 to 110 is pre diabetic (fasting BS). Any sudden change in BS (high or low) is going to make feel like poo. Did you have your AC1 tested or just fasting BS?
Check your BS before you eat a meal and then 90 minutes after a meal. See if it drops below the pre meal reading.
I also want to mention that frequent testing of BS is going to lead anxiety. I remember when wife was diagnosed. I had to take her testing unit away at night.
