Tooth pain part of it, too?

Has anyone else dealt with the inflammation affecting the healing of dental procedures? I am still dealing with a badly inflamed nerve from some work done in Sept.....which is six months of off again/on again extreme pain. Supposedly dealt with at last by a root canal Tuesday (though there was nothing that two dentists/endodontist could find obviously wrong with the tooth and root/ other than chronic inflammation.)

But now.....I am dealing with the extreme pain from THAT procedure.....though the particular tooth has 'lost its nerve,' apparently the underlying nerve along jaw line is all too ready to leap in with pain.

All to say

I've been in such horrible pain for so long -- I don't mean round the clock, but on an almost daily encounter. IT is so discoursing. hard. scarey. isolating!

My strategy at the moment is to quit chewing altogether until everything calms down. That and pain meds.....BUt

has anyone else run into this?

thank you.

I have had about 8 root canals due to nerve inflammation in my teeth. Some slight insult to the tooth (a tiny cavity, a slight chip, etc) can trigger root swelling and inflammation. In most people this would go away on its own within a few weeks. In my mouth, it accelerates until the root is swollen and damaged. At that point I need a root canal.

I have an endodontist who is very informed on autoimmune conditions, and she works with me to avoid root canals. Once a nerve got inflamed from a tiny wearing of enamel... she figured out a way to seal it every 3 weeks until my nerve calmed down 3 months later. Often there is nothing we can do, however.

So yes, I have found that my teeth are affected by my PsA. I also find that having a root canal sooner rather than later is very helpful.... once, many years ago, I put off the root canal, and the inflammation spread and I ended up needing a root canal on the next tooth over :(
