Talking about pain seems to make me emotional

Am I the only one? Talking about pain makes me well up and just thinking about the pain seems to hurt me. Is that normal?

Hi Dot,

You are normal.... it is a process... it is almost like dealing with death... first you cry, then deny, then grieve, then accept.... those were my steps to this damg disease... I am dealing with a lot more pain than normal.. one of the specialists i had to see... abruptly took me off one of my medications due to severe side effects.....now I dont know how to deal with the pain it caused.. trying to get into doctor soon!!

Stay strong.... the best thing is try to distract yourself if at all possible.. the more you dwell on the pain.. the more it will hurt.

I do the same thing about 75% of the time I really talk or acknowledge the pain. Trying to stay strong and not focus on pain is hard to do so when the chance arrives to express myself I often do get emotional. Think that’s part of pain that we accept everyday. Even though it is dull at times it never goes away and we end up burying those feelings to get through. Your a very strong woman but its OK to let it out when you need to! Did you start your new meds yet? Hope this helps even a little and you feel better soon!

You might ask your doc about Cymbalta. It helped with nerve pain and kept the emotions on an even keel. When I have a lot of pain I go on the web and watch old buggs bunny cartoons! I laugh so hard the pain disappears!

Thanks, you guys. I am recently back on meds and sure that soon it will be more tolerable. I am going back to distraction. I’ve gotten so wound up lately I forgot that.
