Surgery frustration

So, I have had this huge lump in the underside of my wrist for years. it is at times very painful especially if bumped. I finally decided to ask My PCP about it, she said it was a gangelion cyst and sent me off to see the hand surgeon, in fact the same one that did my carpal tunnel surgery years ago. My first apt was with the surgeons assistant which I never even thought twice about since this was how my appts went with this office before. Sure enough, the diagnosis of a gangelion cyst was confirmed by the assistant and surgery scheduled. in order to have the surgery I had to be off my mtx for 4 weeks and no asprin, ibuprofen or aleve ( which I live on) for a week before surgery. So after making arrangements to be off work for 4 to 6 weeks, my husband taking time off work to help me we make our way to the hospital for the surgery. mind you my hands are so swollen I cant even make a fist. the first thing the tell me is they need to start an iv in each hand to which I reply, no I have a power port. long story short they cant use a port for surgery. so there I sit in my lovely paper gown with band aids all over from repeated attempts to start iv's ( they finally got 1 of the 2 needed ) when in walks the surgeon. He looks at what I have now been told by 2 doctors was a cyst and informs me that it is not a cyst just inflammation from my arthritis and that he is not going to do the surgery. he says " that's a skunk I am not willing to poke", tells the nurse to remove my iv and send me home. The feeling of frustration I have right now is unbelievable. guess I am stuck with the pain in my wrist and now a few more weeks of pain all over while I wait for the arthritis meds to start working again

Oh no. What a miserable thing to have happen. And what a miserable thing to have. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

all the doctors I seen up to the day of the surgery said it was a cyst. just had an MRI today to see what it really is
