Sure Click Enbrel

Thanks everyone. Still turning it over.

Called the Enbrel nurse hotline and there weren't much help. Going to send me a sharps container though, lol. Will call my doctor and insurance today. I know there isn't much they can do now, but at least I can get it sorted for next month.

Doctor changed script, no problem. But insurance won't refill early.

I have decided to continue with the sure clicks. I will try all your suggestions and let you know how things go. so far the enbrel has taken the edge off the pain, but it's still there. Read it can take up to 6 months to see a huge benefit.

If u need support Hon. Pm me. I will be happy to give u moral support. Karen

Just wondering whether your hubby could give you these doses with the sure clicks ...... do I remember you saying way, way back he was a pharmacist ..... so maybe not too clueless about this stuff????

Also I had a look back in my diary and sure enough the least painful place on my leg when I was on the Humira sure clicks was the first bit of slightly plumper skin just above my knee towards the outside and, in fact, that still the best leg location for the pre-filled syringe needle to go as well.

You'll get through this, I reckon just warming it up a bit more and giving the alcohol a good minute or two to evaporate will help loads.

If E has already taken the edge off … LUCKY LUCKY YOU! And good decision to keep going. Although I knew most immediately that the E was going to help, t was at least six months before I really knew how much Enbrel could do.

Jules, hubs does give me the shots. He's very good at it. I think with this pen we were both unprepared. I should have read about it before hand. Hubs is good with the knowledge behind the drugs, but not experiencing them being injected or side effects.

Will try again Saturday. I might take some pain meds before hand. Hate to sound like a whimp. I am very far from it, but I hate the anticipation of pain.

Try to distract yourself with aomething… hope it may help. I was the same way and let myself be in agony for two whole months with the debilitating pain…someone said fear the disease, not the treatment. .It finally clicked for me…gentle Higgs

Karen

Hugs as lol

Yes, Karen, fear the disease. Amielynn, distract yourself with the thought of having a total knee replacement. That might make you glad to have the feel of that sureclck shot!

I’m guessing that the next one won’t be nearly as bad for you as the first. Do your relaxation breathing.

Thanks everyone. Thanks Karen and Seenie.

So do fear knee replacement. My knees are the worst... good way to look at it....

Didn’t mean to scare you, Amielynn. But honestly, a knee replacement is painful. You hope never to need one, but if you do, don’t be scared: it is now a highly successful procedure, and after you get through the short-term chalenges you have a functional, pain-free joint. I think mine are as good as the originals. Don’t fear it. But taking the Enbrel may prevent your needing it!

I can vouch for the knee replacement....my mom had one almost 10 years ago when she was 80. She has the 9-inch scar, but shortly after she had her knee done, the surgery became much less dramatic and now I think most people only end up with 4 small incisions. Anyway, her knee is perfect to this day!

Word of advice--she would tell you--don't get rooster comb injections! She had a couple of those, and somehow the second one was so painful she cried and swears to this day it was the most painful thing she's ever endured!

Good luck with the next few Enbrel injections. I hope it does its magic on you like it did so many of us. Hopefully, you will look back at this experience as positive because so much good will come out of it. Sort of like having a baby!

First injection wasn't so bad but afterward it hurt and I had severe allergic reaction which got under control with off the shelf antibiotic cream (tried anti-itch and Benadryl before that) I tought about pre-filled so my rheumy had me do a test injection with pre-filled last week and it hurt as much and I had to deal with sticking that needle inside my fleash and it hurt the same. So I'm sticking with the SureClick and tell myself that the 15sec of pain is well worth the benefit.

Why do they tell folks to inject in the thigh? Because they're SADISTS, that's why. Inject in some belly fat, or even love handle chub, but never, ever in the leg. Ever. Make sure to avoid any stretch marks, make sure the alcohol is dry too. I think part of the problem is the volume. I just did my first enbrel injection on Tuesday and was surprised that it was only 1mL. Seems like a lot more to me! Anyway, the prefilled syringes will help lot.

Thanks Grumpy.. yes SADISTS!!!

Injected in the belly yesterday. It wasn't as painful as before. Though it did burn. Took me awhile to work up to the injection. A little back story... I had an epipen accidentally discharge through my thumb up through the nail. Let's say I hate those spring loaded pens and that click sound.

Thanks everyone for your help. One more sure click and I get the pre fills. Oh, a side note, I got two kittens. Will post pictures later.

Yes, there’s still a burn when you inject into the stomach (although I sometimes feel nothing at all). I think you will find that when you get the prefills, you (or your hubbie) will be able to inject so slowly that you feel almost nothing. I’m glad that you’re feeling less panicked about this now.

Me too Seenie. I still don't like the sure clicks but I can see how they are convenient for some people. I like to see the needle and know what is happening. Cuts down on my fears.

FINALLY got the pre filled syringes. MUCH better. Still burns but nothing like the Sure Clicks. Thanks goodness!

Oh and I got Strep and a cold two weeks ago. Had to miss two doses of Enbrel, loads of antibiotics. My body was not fighting it off. Fever for 5 days. Lots of sleep. I have never been that sick before. I guess this is something normal for a lowered immune system. I am just glad it wasn't the flu!

It's that big of a difference? Wow, I may need to consider asking for this next time. It's not horrendous with the sure click, but it definitely doesn't feel great. My mom is going to be starting Enbrel too, and she was given sure clicks. She's planning on trying it out on her left thigh, which has nerve damage.

It was a big difference for me. The burn was less as well since I could control the push flow. With the Sure Click there is the safety lock then the spring of the needle. For me, it was awful.
