Has/does anyone used sulfasalazine? I saw my Dr yesterday and she wants me to add sulfasalazine to my Enbrel. I did a little research but, couldn't find actual users responses from people with Psa.
My main question is; does it help and how did it help you? What side effects did you have? Did you take folic acid with it? How long were you taking it?

I was originally put on Sulfasalazine for about 9 months. I was never on Embrel so I couldn't say what that combination was like. After 3 months on Sulfasalazine I was put on methotrexate but didn't see any progress. I was taken off Sulfasalazine and haven't noticed any worsening.
Years ago I used sulfasalazine for maybe 9 months, and the only thing it did for me was give me side effects. My side effects were mostly mouth sores and insomnia. When I was using it I wasn’t taking anything else, except meds to counter the side effects.
I am currently using Arava with my Simponi. It seems to be working for me.
