Any suggestions for pain relief during flare-up. Severe joint pain in foot…swelling, pain, warm, almost too painful to walk on. Do you ice (I also have been diagnosed with gout), heat, any topical applications? Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks Newly diagnosed and start Humira injections next week but right now on no treatment.
Usually if there’s warmth and swelling I’ll use ice. Stiffness and pain I’ll use heat. But I have Raynaud’s too, so it takes a lot to convince me that ice on my hands and feet won’t actually kill me. I’ve had frostbite quite a few times so it’s a real risk for me.
Thanks Stoney. The pain gets so great sometimes, you don’t know what to do
I’ll take any thoughts, too! Cindybeme, I have the same kind of pain–have you had X-rays of your feet? My cartilage is completely worn off in my middle arch joints, and that’s where the problem lies. I’ve been feeling hopeless about it because the foot doctor basically told me there’s nothing he can do for me!
I sound identical to you. Just don’t know where to turn sometimes?
Well I’d be asking my doctor for some pain meds and possibly steroids assuming they’re ok for you whilst you wait and see if the Humira does something positive. There’s no necessity to be on nothing else whilst waiting for the meds to help.
Thanks Poo!
