SI fusion

Hello, my sacroilitis is flaring again after getting the steroid injection. The spinal Dr is suggesting either a neurotomy or fusion of the SI joint. Has anyone had these procedurers before? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you had ablations done? Just thinking about options in addition to surgery

The Dr mentioned either neurotomy or fusion. I believe the neurotomy is the same as an ablation. I will know more in morning when i go in for the numbing of the SI joint. Inalresfy knoe i habe bilateral sacroiliitis. It was comfirmed by the MRI. Apparently, this is part of the process. This is all new to me.

Sorry for all those typos.

Haha…I assumed you were partially sedated already! I hope you get the pain relief that is much needed.

Hello, i received all the injections and im still in pain. I go july 24th to discuss surgery on my SI joint. I believe it is called the I fuse procedure. Also, i was diagnosed with Ankylosing spondylitis on top of psoriatic arthritis. This back pain is relentless. I am on my third week of Cosentyx. Im praying this medication helps. I am out on total permanent disability at 51 years of age. This is not what i expected my life to be like. Im still trying to accept it.

Very sorry to hear of your pain and suffering. Don’t lose hope, there are newer meds on the way and the science behind them is advancing like never before. I do pray that you will find relief through surgery and or biologics.

Thanks Amos. I’m really hoping this Cosentyx helps. I’m still on the loading dose. Fingers crossed! Hope everyone is feeling well. You guys and gals are the best

Hi, I have an update on the SI joint fusion. I’m getting the left SI joint fused using the Transloc 3D SI joint fusion system on November 6th. I am hoping for some pain relief, as this pain is relentless. The Cosentyx stopped working, so I am on month 4 of Bimzelyx without much relief. I’m trying my hardest to be patient with this new biologic. I am taking Celebrex everyday now. It gives a little relief. Also, I hope everyone is doing well. I will update you guys and gals after I have the surgery. Fingers crossed!

I hope you get relief finally. You’ve been dealing with this for some time

can you share update

Hi Stoney, I had the left SI joint fused on December 4th. As with any surgery, the first few days were rough, but I am definitely glad I went through with it at this point. It was a minimally invasive procedure and the surgeon used two titanium screws. Also, the Bimzelx is working beautifully. It’s been a god send. I’m staying positive and will just treat whatever comes next. I was also diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, DDD, DJD, and many bulging and herniated disc. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Kelly

I’m glad that you’ve had the surgery and hopefully that’s the worst of it. My mom just started that medication over the summer and she seems to be doing well on that. I actually started a different medication in the same class, cosentyx, over the summer. I know that that medication is a slow burner, but I am finding that there has been improvement over time.

I hope the rest of your recovery goes smoothly
