Sharp, stabbing pains in toes!

Yes, this weekend I walked too much. My daughter was participating in a 4H Horsbackriding school for 3 days this weekend. I went one day, rested the second, and went the 3rd for the show. I even drove the truck from one parking area to another so I didn't have to walk as much. We brought chairs with us so we could sit more.

Last night I put ice on my feet to reduce the pain and swelling. When I woke up with stabbing pain in my toes and could barely walk no matter what shoes I tried on. What is going on? Has anyone had this symptom?

Feeling better this afternoon, but still stiff.

Help with understanding this please!

I get a lot of foot pain. When I change my usual activity - i.e. Sit/stand/walk/ride in car or plane I can get a flare of inflammation and peripheral neuropathy.
What helps?
Voltaren gel rubbed on my toes and ankles/heels helps. Keeping my feet up reduces swelling. Keeping my NSAID on a regular schedule ( I use Celebrex, naproxen used to help until it wrecked my stomach :frowning:
Resting before/during/ and after travel is necessary for me. Hope you feel better soon.

I take oral Voltaren twice a day. One pill at breakfast and one with lunch. My pain came an hour after taking my medication.

Thank you to everyone who answered my post about sharp pain in my toes. Now it's early evening and I have it in some of my fingers. God help us!

I get the foot pain a lot. Those sharp needles that won’t quit. I get it in my fingers, too. I can’t stand having the covers on my feet anymore as it seems to make those stabbing pains worse. Sorry you’re going through it right now. Hope the 4H riding school was a hit.

I get sharp stabbing pains in both my toes and fingers. It's different then a flare with inflammation and throbbing pain, also different then the burning pain I get in my feet and hands from increased activity. They are random sharp pains that will happen out of the blue, usually in the end joint towards the nail.

I too have started getting these stabbing pains, mainly in the end toe joints as well. They only last about 2 - 3 seconds but score about an 8 on the pain scale. Not too much of a problem during the day but I’m finding they are waking me through the night which is really frustrating as taking pain meds has no effect.
Will be seeing my Rheumatologist this afternoon so have added this symptom to “The List”. It beginning to look like the dead sea scrolls!

Too funny, Louise!

PSA foot pain study

I went to the study Ircjvl but can't view as I have to log in...is it the same study as this?

Yes. Article is about same study.

I too have episode of stabbing sharp pain in my toes. I have actually found myself speaking aloud on ocassion ... and not nice words ... I have yet to correlate it to any specific sequence of actions other than it seems to happen when I am more active.
