Rib pain on sides where bras wrap around (sorry fellas)

Yep, that’s the mild version. I often get it between my ribs in my back as well.

Oh man the rib pain! I get this fairly often these days (though it’s been pretty quiet recently). Mine affects my entire rib cage, sides, front, back, though often the worst bits are the lower ribs right where they curve below my sternum.

On the bra front, I’m afraid I’m not much help. I wasn’t endowed with much (I range from a B cup to a C depending on my weight; I think I’m back down to a B right now and actually need to buy some new bras). I don’t do underwire because I have so many allergies - if it’s made of metal wire I’m allergic and my skin psoriasis will act up, and I’m afraid plastic isn’t much better), but I have several soft underwire free bras that are comfortable enough to wear to work and such - the rest of the time I don’t bother. The underwire free bras are also gaining traction, much more available than there used to be, I just wish I could find one that was cotton or another natural fabric :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

darinfan, I’ve found normal sweating in that area returned with biologics after years of sweating for England followed by a few years of not sweating at all! However getting past the menopause might have something to do with that, which obviously does not apply to you.

Wondering if your dry/chapped armpits could perhaps be low level inverse psoriasis … or maybe due to not sweating or weight gain.

The rib thing … if you’re anything like me you will occasionally think you’re having a heart attack or have cancer, enthisitis seems preferable. But I suppose chest pain should always be checked out. I find movement helps, especially swimming, whereas inactivity or limited movement - at desk or cooking etc. - make it worse.

The irritation under the arms is weird - but there is definitely more…err…flab that side than the other - and even more so since the steroids. But absolutely nothing to see. But I guess the excess sweating that side doesn’t help either.
No lumps and bumps. As for the thing a few inches down, it’s not like a chest pain but literally tender as if someone been poking you too hard in the ribs! Very odd, but feeling better now it is “normal” for us!

Exactly! And I agree ‘normal for us’ can be so reassuring (depending on what it is).

Undoubtedly, Sybil, especially as a trip to the GP with such an issue is likely to result in a “don’t know” verdict. But there really does need to be more information out there about these conditions beyond the generally joint-and-skin issues stuff. It seems to be that there is still a lack of understanding in the medical world as to what something like PsA entails. After all we have multiple people coming here complaining of all kinds of things from dodgy armpits to rib pain to problems with their teeth!

Yep, agree! I could say a whole lot more on that one. Some time!
