I attended and the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) recorded the webinar. Once the webinar is up on the NPF website I will post the link.

There was a presentation on the guidelines for treating PsA, including the mental well being of the patient and treat to target. However, I haven’'t seen any of my rheumys follow the “old” guidelines, so not sure how many rheumys will pay attention to these new guidelines.

My big takeaways from the webinar are:

  1. that many PsA patients are overweight and weight loss significantly helps with disease control and remission. I’ve gained a lot of weight due to steroids and inactivity. I’m making a concerted effort this year to reduce my weight and exercise (if my PsA will allow me).

  2. Comorbidity issues that should be addressed (diabetes, heart disease, eye inflammation…)

Here’s the link to the recorded webinar - I really think it is worth watching - you can always skip through any part that’s not interesting to you:

Thanks, Frances. I’ll check it out. I’ve read a few studies that address the relationship between excess body fat and an inflammatory cascade, so I’m working on getting those kg’s down as well. I also share your experience of wondering how new guidelines will help if my current rheumy doesn’t pay any attention to the old ones… Still - that just means we have to keep ourselves informed, so once again, thanks for the link
