This is the best single source article on the deleterious and systemic effects of PsA on the entire body that I have encountered to date.
The concise article reviews the presentation and destructive nature of PsA not only on the skeletal joints that we are so familiar with, but its almost more sinister role in elevating the comorbid risks of cardio and vascular disease progression. I became aware of this elevated risk last year when discussing Ps with my Dermo doc and she made a brief comment about it. Neither my Cardio nor my Internist/PCP were aware of the link until I gave them copies of the technical paper abstracts I researched. This cardiovascular link to Ps/PsA started to appear in jointly authored Dermo/Cardio medical journals in just the last few years.
Thanks to this article, I will discuss the noninvasive, ultrasound derived cIMT measurement protocol with my Cardio when I next see him. I'm going to take a copy of this article with me for reference.
