Ph!need help please

i just started my Humira shots today. i feel like,i have been run over by a truck.and am short of breath. just overall feeling like crud. anyone else have this experience when starting Humira. i also take mtx 7 tablets a week, with folic acid daily.

SOB is serious stuff call your doc NOW. Its unklikley to be the Humira with it being the first shot, but you never know. Humira is not a "medication" in the traditional sense

Didn't you just recently have oral surgery?? Are you taking in meds post that? it could be an oral infection or dry socket too. I thought you were off your MTX as well??? be sure and let your MD know about the dental work

I did have a tooth removed that is healing greatly. That was on Monday. Today almost all closed up. They decided to go ahead with the injections today. They weren’t going to at first but seeing I was having no issues they decided, or after discussing it thought it would be fine. I feel kinda like fluish. I.e.am on no meds post OP. I have been do looking forward to starting this Humira as I am so ready for some relief just knew it would work. I hope maybe tomorrow will be better. Anchors to see if anyone else had felt this way and that it’s going to get better. I don’t want to give up yet on this med.
I was surprised to see you remembered me and my having oral surgery Monday. ty

Your Body (and you) has/have been through a lot this week. You will be fine. A check in with your doc or nurse will help put you at ease and get a good nights rest.

Thank you so much for your input. It’s greatly appreciated!. Love hearing from you all so much. This is a wonderful place to be for support and people who understand.

Doesn’t sound right to me - I’d go see the Doc asap just to be sure.

Biologics can make pre existing conditions worse. I believe Humira’s own instructions are to contact your doctor if you have shortness breath. However, it’s not uncommon to feel tired after the first few shots, especially if you had the loading dose. I would at least talk to the nurse to see what they think.

Hope you are starting to feel a little better by this time. If you are still having trouble with being short of breath, give your doctor a call on the emergency line.

Thanks! You are all wonderful and bout it’s such a relief having word from people have been where I am and have experience with what I’m going through. GREAT FOLKS, AND GREAT WORDS OF WISDOM.

I am feeling some better at this point

Shortness of breath is nothing to take lightly. It could very well turn out to be nothing but you need to go and get it checked out immediately. I’ve seen shortness of breath end in a heart attack way too many times. We take meds that in some cases do more harm then good or cause strange reactions. Never take chances. I hope your ok.

I spoke to the Doctor today and they think that since I had my grandkids Monday Tuesday and Wednesday prior to the shot on Thursday and had the 7 yr old to the ER with a viral infection on Wendesday night that I got the bug and then the shot and it made me immune and made me sick. Said they have had alot of calls with people picking up the virus thats gong around. I felt much better today until I took the MTX tonight. Now am wide awake all night long.

Thats good news (in a way only someone with PsA can appreciate) Thanks for the update. Really everybody Does want to know what the docs say it is a pretty good comfort really.

Try keeping track of your SE's from the MTX by time and work backwards . If loss of sleep is the first one to hit you. Maybe taking it earlier in the day would help. It took a while for me, but I've'got it mailed down to where i sleep through most of it. I'm not quite right Monday mornings but no one is.......

Anyway congrats on getting the crud. now get over it :-) (I love licorice tea and an Opera for the crud- my wife says it because its nice to see someone else in pain - the arias - shes not a fan.) Its almost time for another shot and step closer to some control.
