I am going to ask if this happens to any of you. I had a PsA flare up a few weeks ago and had real bad nausea that hit me like a hammer all very fast.
Now today I have had pain in my bent finger joints and in my wrists all day at work. I mean pain in my wrists that hurt if I just put pressure on my hands, it hurt a few times to even use the mouse on the PC, I mean I have not had it in my wrists this bad yet. I am thinking, great another area of joints being attacked. I grit through it since I have been out for 6 days with bronchitis.
No fatigue. I get out of work and all of a sudden I feel nausea real bad. I get sick then start feeling swelling and fatigue associated with a flare up.
Question is do any of you have real bad nausea that makes it feel almost like a stomach flu & then a flare up?
I don't see why there couldn't be nausea associated with the onset of a flare. It does make me wonder if you don't have something additional going on with your GI tract. It's not uncommon for autoimmune disease to run in packs. It would make sense that you could have a GI flare at the same time as a joint flare, making you feel nauseous.
Could be anything, Brian. But I do know that I have bowel symptoms which go with my disease. Still, if you’re not feeling better tomorrow, I’d be checking with the doctor. it sounds like you are seriously miserable.
Hope you’re feeling better soon.
I mentioned it to my Humaria advocate & specialist, they are aware of this & say it is just part of it.
Well, I suppose it is so new to me that new symptoms I have are going to freak me out. I am still processing the fact that life changed changed & I have some serious decisions to make for my family's future. It has been a rough & fast 6 months since I have been diagnosed.
Thanks for being there for me all of you and helping me with your knowledge.

Hi Brian, just wanted to tell you that I've started to get wrist pain recently (but have had weak wrists for a long while) and my OT gave me some splints a couple of weeks ago to try out and see if they helped. And the answer is a big YES! They get in the way of doing lots of things but the support is definitely worthwhile while resting, working at the computer or even just sitting to read the paper.
I get nausea with migraines (that may/may not be connected to the PsA meds), doc has now given me a drug to stop it at the first sign of trouble but before that I had some success with ginger .... tea, ginger ale, ginger beer, crystalised ginger .... when I felt icky.
If the pain is really bad, I do have a lot of nausea. It usually goes away when I get the psi better settled. I have an rx for a drug called Zofran that I use for nausea. Works like a charm.
I found that wrist splints really help when I work and I’m having a wrist flare. If you look at my blog, I think I have a pic of mine posted. I like them because they’re lightweight, provide just enough support, are washable, and have lots of openings so I don’t get sweaty and icky inside them.if you are interested in something like that, check out my splints, but also ask Stoney. She is the hand queen!
Yeah, the swelling eased up, flare getting better. Thanks for the input, Rough few days since Thursday evening. Now I am so fatigued, I just hope I make it to work Monday.
Ah yes, the doc said that sometime Humaria after my injection to drink ginger ale. I really do like ginger ale so that helps.
My last few flare ups have started with this bad nausea.

Thanks for sharing, I am not alone in this. The fatigue is so bad, I am dealing with the swollen hands and wrist today I just get tired so damn fast, then I ache.

For years prior to a flare I would get flu like symptoms that would alert me a flare was coming. Generally this is when I would start taking my Celebrex. Amazing what listening to my body allowed me to do. If I started the Celebrex right away then I usually was able to manage the degree of pain during the course of the flare. If I didn't listen to my body and ignored the signs, the pain level in the flare along with the inflammation, would go to what I called "the point of no return", this would require pain killers or cortisone shots to help manage and usually a loss of a functioning joint.
Currently, I have pain daily. I am learning how to read my body again as the flares have increased and seem to be more random. I pretty much feel flu like symptoms daily now, some days are better then others.
My symptoms are very much the same as yours. I get the flu like symptoms too. They are no fun, but they are a great early warning indicator. Time to get premedicated, make sure that I am resting well, doing my exercises, and drinking plenty. It really does help to get on top of it early. I didn’t even think of mentioning that

Feeling much better than I did last this past Thursday. Yes, I felt so sick like the stomach flu. I have not been to work since then. Going back Tuesday, tomorrow.
I had my Humaria injection tonight, I take it every other Monday, the max dose amount. I think it is really helping.
Starting to feel better already, PsA symptoms that is.
I just hope my immune system does well this week. I added a multi vitamin to my vitamin c I take every day
Hi there, I don't get nausea but I usually get a whopping headache/migraine before a flare. It happened to me day before yesterday and I am just getting over the headache part and now I feel like I have a nasty hangover....woozy and just dog tired. Nausea is the pits. I hope you have some phenergan on hand !
Hello- I am new to forum . I was looking for information on nausea. I have been having horrible nausea for the past couple of weeks-in fact I threw up yesterday. I have been on remicaide for the past couple of years and I also take savella for fibromyalgia. My liver enzymes have been elevated for a couple of months and I havent been able to take the remicaide and my savella was cut in half. I was wondering if this nausea was related to the PsA-seems like everything else is.
I am also getting horrible headaches and I dont ever get headaches. I also have problems with the computer- I call it "mouse hand". Hope that you are feeling better. Did you ever discuss this with your doctor?? Mine always thinks that I am nuts when I tell him things like this.
I have been on Gold, Enbrel, Humira, and Remicaide Infusions and never experienced nausea from any of these. However, on biologics like Methotrexate and Luflunomide the nausea was so severe I had to make one trip to urgent care and subsequently stopped both oral meds. We tried Methotrexate Injectable, but more side effects...thrush and other oral "sores." So stopped that as well.
I sometimes do get nauseous from a flare up. It's when everything feels a bit muffled and even my brain is fuzzy and then my stomach starts to ache and it makes me feel a bit nauseous. But i've never been sick from it. I've only ever been sick from my meds. That's really not very pleasant. I would definitely talk to your rheumatologist about it.
