MTX injections

Went to my rhemuy yesterday he told me he was switching me to MTX injections because I was taking the pills in the beginning it took away the psoriasis on my scalp I noticed over the weekend it is coming back ( I was so surprised the psoriasis went away with the meds) the dr said the injections work better, I have had a little relief from aches and pains so my rhemuy said try the injections cause he can increase the dose if needed. I have to be honest yesterday was my second appt this is stupid to say I was hoping when I went yesterday he was going to tell me this was all a mistake! lol feeling over whelmed today. I do a lot of volunteering I think i need to take a step back and take care of myself. This has been so difficult I work full time and am very involved at church but come Friday I am exhausted!! Ugh good grief!! I don’t know what I would do without this support group!!

I know the feeling, hoping that it was all a mistake. But the fact that you've had some relief both in aches and pains and psoriasis seems to say that the diagnosis (or at least the treatment) is accurate. That's good that you're getting relief so fast.

As to the injections, lots and lots of people have used injections of some sort or another. You'll see lots of threads about injections, including tips on how to make them more comfortable. The truth is, it's just one moment, once a week.

I was using insulin injections for a while, plus testing my blood sugar repeatedly. That was a lot pokes every day. You get used to it.

Yeah, I've been on the MTX injections for a few weeks. Not that I notice it helping, but that's my own story. I will tell you that I noticed with the MTX injections that rather than be nauseated on and off for a week (like with the pills) I'd get intensely nauseated the day after the injection.

But we are all very different. I will say that I don't feel the MTX injection burns or hurts much compared to other shots.

I am praying the shots don’t make me sick I am afraid I had relief temp with the pills but now when I wake up I can barely walk and the psoriasis is back. Well tonight is the night we shall see!! Blessings to all!!

Good luck with this, Adi. Some people find that the shots work better, and a lot of people find that, because the drug bypasses the digestive system, there are fewer side effects. There’s only one way to find out!
Totally agree with you on looking after yourself! You, too, are a worthy volunteer project.

Nauseous as heck today and I have a terrible headache!!! I gave myself the injection last night I am getting ready to give up my husband says to give it time!!!

Thank you Seenie it’s hard for people to understand what I am going through I look alright so they treat me the same I realize I need to put in the breaks!!!

Don’t give up yet. If you aren’t taking FA, make sure that you are. Also, see if your doc is willing to give you something for nausea. It’s so worth it! Plus, a lot of the side effects tend to wear off over time. Hopefully the nausea med would be a temporary thing until you are more used tot he MTX. Until then, ginger candies or tea are good for nausea. There are so e OTC remedies, Emetrol works okay. Not as good as an Rx, but might help you get through the next day.
