Is there an awareness ribbon for PSA?

Thats a good idea JC!

Did anyone see the recent South Park episode lampooning the wrist bands of many colors for any and all causes? It was funny and telling. But I do agree that more awareness about the particulars of PsA and any autoimmune disease would be helpful. Most people I know have little appreciation of the vagaries of this ailment.

Anyway, one wants to laugh too. South Park is funny.

Have never seen a South Park episode, but think I would have enjoyed it.... I'm not understanding awareness ribbons. I got the yellow ones back from the Iran Contra Days.....

My pea brain is to weak to figure out what the other 900 are for let alone the bracelets. I think the hostages were set free while RR was taking the oath of office????

I know this is an old thread but I made a ribbon :)

I am going to make them and sell them this summer to raise some money (as I am a marathon no-goer! :D )

Blue for arthritis, orchid/orange for psoriasis (although my orange doesnt look too orange - more gold - which is apt as we are all awesome winners :D

Anyway, let me know what you think :)

I think I'm the one who posted the IAAM website. They also have a facebook page and are posting posters with different people's stories (mine was posted today). The templates and directions are on the IAAM website. http://www.facebook.com/WorldAutoimmuneArthritisDay

Sami-Jaine,

Love the ribbon!! Great job.

Alma

I love that ribbon Samijainey ! It's perfect.

I really wish we had our own ribbon, it would help with awareness of our condition, only about 30% of people with Psoriasis will develop PsA so being lumped into the psoriasis ribbon is not fair because people look up psoriasis and its not where we are, not that it in itself isn't a terrible condition it is, but these 2 diseases are different and we need one for PsA.

Today I googled "autoimmune arthritis awareness ribbons" and ALL of them said RA =(.....

My mother asked me where she could get a ribbon to wear to support me on world arthritis day and I had to explain that we don't have one, which lead my other family members who are not so supportive as she to reaffirm that this must not be a real disease or as bad as I claim because it doesn't even have a ribbon ... really sucked to have battled so much for them to get it only to throw that all away again....

We need to make some noise and get a darn ribbon for PsA even on the autoimmune arthritis pages , we are listed but when you look for ribbons most are RA or JA, we are included but excluded =/

The holidays were rough because the topic was brought up again about real conditions and diseases have awareness and ribbons and their own day to support loved ones who are sick, I am tried of trying to prove PsA is a real thing and that it does exist, guess I am feeling a bit invalidated at the moment.

Sami-Jaine, in the end, did you have the ribbons made? Do you have pictures that we could post on our social networks? We have to share it as much as possible!!! I hate that there are almost “official” ribbons for other autoimmune diseases but not PsA!

Does anybody know what happened to samijainey. I really love the ribbon she designed and want to use it.

I don't know Silkie... No news since I last posted. I ended up trying to design one myself on a website I found. I am somehow happy about the result but wish it looked more like the other ribbons we see. Plus, it is not "official". Here it is. You can use it if you want. A few people did already since I posted it on facebook groups I am part of.

Love it. It looks cheerful!

There is an official PsA ribbon. You can get it via Facebook group, ‘Psoriatic Arthritis Official Awareness Ribbon Campaign’ or www.MyProfessionalFriend.com. I don’t know how to upload a picture here but it is 3 stripes, Dark Blue, Orange & Orchid. It is listed at Disabled World’s website & several other places.
