Shoulder ortho goes over my c-spine MRI with me—definite narrowing at C6 and C7, the parts of the c-spine which control THE SHOULDERS. He says he will not discuss options with me until I’ve seen a neurosurgeon to see if he can help us determine how much is c-spine and how much is shoulder. I figure he’s the expert and we need those questions answered.
I got asked why I was seeing a neurosurgeon when the damage “could be normal aging.” Does she not think I asked the man that question? I did and got a clear no.
I HAVE SEEN EVERY X-RAY I’VE HAD IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS. I’VE SEEN EVERY MRI I’VE HAD IN THE LAST FOUR (two left shoulder, 1 right shoulder, 1 c-spine). I CAN SEE THE PROGRESSION OF THE DAMAGEIN EVERY ONE OF THEM!
I’m not injecting Humira every 10 days (at $2500 for 8 doses) because I like finding new places to shoot myself.
I’m not seeing so many doctors because I get off on going to the Lexington Clinic.
I really like sitting in meetings, yelping because I move wrong and then everybody looks at me. NOT
I really like being looked at as a damned freak at our annual gathering and Bar Association convention last week. NOT
I really don’t give a crap that her boss's "isn't as bad" (as if I'm lying and/or a drama queen). I’M NOT HIM.
Oh yeah, it's a lot of damn fun being in pain that aspirin (or Ibuprofen if I'm desperate) won't touch because I've been told NOT to take muscle relaxers or anything heavier before coming to work.
It's also a lot of damn fun being told it really doesn't matter how much pain I'm in, I am to be in the office and NOT to ask to work at home either.
Is it possible your boss has had some experience with spinal surgery and is concerned with the downward spiral that starts all too often when the spinal surgeries start? Surely a lawyer would know that if it was harassment, they will need to get out the check book eventually. She may simply have the tact of a whorehouse madam or some some experience in the business. Either way you don't have to take it.........
She has no experience with spinal surgeries; whorehouse madams have more tact. She and her boss are lawyers, but I swear, both of them have no common sense or ability to be genuine people.
I have a good grievance but at this point, the costs aren't worth the benefit.
I had already decided I was done so I talked with HR today. I have a plan which includes bare minimum information from now on. I have the lowest time from assignment to briefing by about a day. I have the third highest workload point total for the fiscal year. Both of those are with having various appointments. HR knows that also.
I've already made up my mind I'm not having spinal surgery unless there's a really, really, really good reason for it--the same way I'm not having injections in my neck other than as a last resort.
We all need to RANT - let it all out. We have all been there before. Crazy how some people think that we purposely avoiding the answer to all of our problems. Like we are suffering on purpose. It would be interesting to have a gadget that we could hook people up to to give them a taste of the pain we have. Ever watch those videos of men experiencing childbirth like pains - hilarious. I would love the men at my office to be me sitting for 8 hours a day typing with a spine, neck and hands inflamed but not allowed to be drugged at the office.
