Muscle relaxers like flexorel and Alleve. Or Volteran gel if I have taken an NSAID. Sleep med so I can get some restorative sleep.

Hi Wanda I'm so sorry you are hurting!

I'm in a flare too. I've found that if you wrap your fingers with the kind of ace bandage that sticks to itself the compression helps alot. I just cut it to about 5 inches long and wrap which ever finger is swollen. My hips hurt a lot too, but I haven't figured out how to wrap them yet...lol... I have found if I go to gym and use the elliptical once I get past the OMG this hurts feeling the pain is much better the rest of the day as long as I don't sit for too long in any one period of time. Shoes should be tight enough for compression, but not so tight you are getting that bone on bone feeling. I had to go to a larger size of shoe. Also my Dr gave me arch supports to put in my shoes. They seem to help some. If you have one, or access to one, a hot tub is a wonderful help.

For me the hardest part is getting out of bed in the morning in the first place. If I didn't have kids I might be tempted to call in sick to work, but since I have to get up anyway...

Also have your anti inflammatory and water beside the bed. Take as soon as you wake. Sometimes I think that it doesn't help at all, but if I miss a dose I am sooo much worse.

Just hang in there and see your Dr about meds.

With Cissy's idea of compression, I have also purchased Flent's finger sleeves (http://www.amazon.com/Finger-Sleeves-Assorted-Sizes/dp/B000NLQ6J0)

They are very helpful. If it's my whole hand, I have gloves that I use for compression as well, and I ice.

Thanks so very much!! My husband thinks it is weird, but I ask him to "massage/squeeze" my fingers...it helps..my hips have just started to hurt, my left one is the worst. I take Celebrex as soon as I wake up!! Thanks again!!
