Hang in there David, hope you got some sleep

I'm curious. Rather than pain pills, are you able to take NSAIDs? Or do you and your doctor need to review your treatment plan? In the meantime, a few thoughts for your hands/fingers. You may find that wearing arthritis gloves, even to bed, may be helpful, as long as they're not too tight. Keeping your joints warm may help with the stiffness. If ice works for you, by all means, use it.

I know how it can get, there are so many joints in the hands that it can get pretty bad.

For muscle weakness, have you considered PT? I'm sure you did rehab after your knee surgery but it may still be appropriate. I hope you start feeling better soon.

I'm going through a bout of extremely painful hands / fingers. I have been wearing IMAK arthritis gloves around the clock which gives immediate pain reduction, and reduces swelling.

ALSO, a paraffin bath helps A LOT with hand pain. You can get one off Amazon for about $45 (look in the beauty section, they are sold for women's manicures and hand treatments). You dip your hand in the hot paraffin (wax), over and over, making a thick coating. Then wrap your hand in plastic wrap, and put a mitt over it to keep the heat in. Then do something like watch TV while the heat soaks in. When I went to a hand specialist, they often started with a paraffin dip before working with people's hands. It helps with mobility and pain reduction.

Besides that, sounds like your treatment plan needs to be changed. Make a list to take to your dr, take a support person to your dr if you have a difficult time voicing how much pain you are in.

Hang in there!

Hi, I've had problems with my hands too. I'm just getting past a really bad week or two.

It originally started in my left hand and seemed to stay in one area. Once I got onto my meds the radiating pain went away but now it's my right hand too. I've had days were I can't use my hand at all. Luckily it only flares in one hand at a time.

I could hardly brush my teeth, wash my hair or tie my shoes. doing the dishes, forget it. Even my joy of walking the dog which is a huge quiet and therapeutic time for me. I'm hoping my new additional meds start working very quickly.

I hope it gets better for you soon.
