AuroraB, I feel your frustration. For me, I use Electrical muscle Stimulation for the site of immediate pain. If you can use it the pain relief is amazing.
To get back to sleep I plug ear buds into my phone and pull up YouTube. I will listen to guided meditations for sleep, relaxation etc. Another type of item on YouTube is binaural beats/tones. I don't really like the isochronic tones as I find them irritating.
even if it only gets me to sleep while the video is playing, I find it to be a deeper and more restful sleep.
