I think it is. I probably misremembered the name. It comes in a clear blue bottle, though. I use it all the time, even when I don’t have time to do a full manicure, I slap some of that on. It dries pretty quickly too, so I have less opportunity to smear it all over myself. Graceful? Not so much.
It is very painful, and embarrassing. I have been dealing with it for many years. My toenails are horrible but I refuse to stop wearing my flip flops. I keep my toenails cut short because In my mind its less noticeable then. The ingrown toenails are very painful, but I think the fingers are the worse. Good luck.
I had horrible “fungal” (not!) toenails that defied prescription treatment for years. If only I had known that PsO was a possibility … but I’m not a doc, althought the doc presumably didn’t know either. Like you, MiP, I cut my nails really short, and I even used to file the tops down (looked awful) because it kind of took the pressuree off. Fingernails started doing the same thing, and it was so uncomfortable. They completely cleared up when I went on Enbrel.
Aside from that, I had nothing that would have ssuggested psoriasis. But when I went on Enbrel, my skin stopped being itchy/dry and flaky, my cuticles no longer had hangnails, I stopped getting split fingertips, my ears were less itchy. Isn’t hindsight grand!
Yes, I've had trouble with my nails also. I didn't realize what the problem was originally and it was before I was diagnosed with PsA. It's amazing how everything comes together once there is a diagnoses.
I had a toe nail that was a big embarrassment for years. I used to cake on the nail polish to attempt to make it look normal. Dark nail polish works best :)
Are any of you ever concerned about getting an infection from the nail salon? I must watch too much investigative journalism, haha. I am a germaphobe now that I am on meds that lower my immune system. But, Oh, I would love a professional mani-pedi. Oh, heck, throw in a gentle massage !
I think it’s something to be concerned about no matter what your immune system is doing. I take my own tools to the salon. Unless I see those clipper coming out of a peel-pack, you are not using them on me!
There is also a concern about infections from the foot spas. Many of them do not have a way to adequately clean the drains/sumps between uses and a lot of people get staph or other blood infections through the contaminated water. I saw on the news where a woman’s entire legs were covered in red welts and streaks from where the bacteria got into small nicks from shaving. Yikes.
Dini, yes, that definitely should be of concern. Two of my daughters got very bad warts around their finger nails from having them professionally done-and it took quite awhile to get rid of them. But, I've had mine done (gel nails) twice now--last year for our son's wedding and last week for our daughter's wedding. I had made a comment on this thread about how painful it made my fingers last year (I wasn't on anything for my PsA then). Last week, the nails applied, and guess what! My fingers don't hurt at all! This is because I'm now on Enbrel. I didn't get any warts or infection either time.

Ooops, I meant mimiB.
There are salons that use plastic liners in the foot spas. They are disposable and each client gets a fresh one.
i have pretty nasty toenails now and I refuse to go to a nail salon. I find that the products are far too strong and end up making my nails worse--nail polish remover is a chief culprit but so is the product they use in the foot bath. These make my toe nails way too flaky and soft.
I do have to say that two years ago I was treated to a lovely spa treatment at a VERY swanky place (I didn't pay...) and the pedicure was first rate and didn't upset my skin or my toes. So I fear for me it really is an issue of cleanliness and quality of products used.
I am never without nail polish on my toes these days. Because of the deep water exercise classes I take quite a lot of people are treated to views of my toes. Finding a polish that won't allow the white spots to chow through has been hard but I've found that top coats with a little sparkle do the trick and disguise the unevenness of my nails.
I have problems with my toenails and fingernails, mostly the toes. They swell and are very painful. The Stelara has trimmed down the pain but it's not gone. I keep them cut and filed but that is it. I still wear open toe shoes. I can't change my nails and I won't hide them. People ask questions, and I inform them, but they can just get over it :)
I have had problems with them since middle school. Also my toes are huge, lol. I am used to the stares now.
