Does methotrexate just stop working?

Hi all... just checking in. I've been on methotrexate for a little over two years now, first oral and then injection because of so many stomach issues. This past month to 6 weeks, I feel like I did before I was diagnosed... Does methotrexate just stop working???!!! Don't see the rheumy until the end of the month. I don't care for him anyway but don't have many choices. I generally get what I need but he is just a jerk. He has been talking about Enbrel the last couple of times I saw him... may have to explore that.

It may not have stopped working so much as you need more added in. And the more might well be Enbrel for you. If you're really miserable, see if you can get in earlier. Three weeks can be a long time if you're miserable.

He may not be such a jerk if he does prescribe Enbrel.

I think Mtx can stop being effective, not sure. We can have flare ups whichever treatment we're on as well of course. In any case no meds are sure fire .... things do change.

I hope your rheumy comes up with something at the end of the month. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks, Stoney and Sybil. I have Emailed him and I'll see what he says... Sybil, though he is a jerk, I do get what I need. It just seems like I know more about my disease than he does sometimes.

I take Methotexate and Humira and haven't had any flares for quite a while. My blood made it obvious when the Enbrel stopped working.

Thanks for the reply, Jenny. Doctor is trying to get me in earlier but otherwise I don't see him until the 27th. He thinks it's a flare but we'll see.
