I would be most grateful if anyone can recommend a Rheumatologist who has a profound understanding of PsA in London or anywhere in the UK. Happy to go private as in disgusting pain.
Linda, you might like to join the Cuppa House (UK) group and ask there. There are people on that part of the site who have found some good specialists, experienced in PsA, in the UK.
On the home page of the site is a link to a video by a London rheumatologist, Dr. Arvind Kaul. You might think about tracking him down: he strikes me as a very sympathetic and knowledgeable specialist.
Finding a good rheumatologist, who you trust and feel comfortable with, is crucial to gaining control of this disease. Good luck with your search!
Hi Linda, yes, please feel free to join us on Cuppa House.
The way I've tracked down PsA specialists is by looking at the names of the doctors who have been part of the working parties responsible for treatment guidelines or publishing research papers etc. There are links to some of these in the Cuppa House section.
The Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath have a very good team and one of the UK's leading specialists, Dr Eleanor Korendowych, practices there. If you google the hospital website there is more information. There is also a very good team in Leeds. Most of the docs also have private practices and you can usually find them online by searching under the docs name.
Huge gratitude for your replies, I will endeavour to make an app't with one of the recommended Dr's. I have heard that Leeds is a centre of excellence in the field of Rheumatology, have any of you been treated there and if so by whom? I am even considering going all the way there is shear desperation!
Dr. Philip Helliwell at Leeds is one of the big names in the PsA research world. Here is an up-and-coming colleague of his –

I’m in Canada, so obviously I haven’t been treated by either. But looking at Dr. Coates’ research, she has collaborated with international researchers, including my own PsA specialist rheumatologist here.
Here’s another little bit that makes me feel confident about her –
