Checking In 11/24

Well hello everyone!
How is everyone? Post a update so I can touch base with my favorite PsA people.

For me, things are average. My PsA is active and causing me some pain but not bothersome enough to change meds. I have started perimenopause at age 43 and I think the hormone fluctuation is causing a lot of my flare symptoms. I am looking into natural and pharmacologic remedies to ease my symptoms. My knees are getting worse year by year and I do think some form of surgery is in my future. For now I am considering a walking cane or walker for my bad days. Just something to help when my legs do not want to cooperate. I have considered a wheelchair for the house just so I can limit my walking on bad days. I homeschool my 14 year old son, so there is a lot of moving about during the day. Other than that I’m just hanging in there.

Well you certainly seem to have a good attitude about it all and that means a lot. On one hand you seem young to be using walking aids but good for you to be wise enough to do the right thing to preserve what you have!

Haha, not all days are good attitude days for sure, just as most days I am fine without needing aids. There just happens to be more and more days where a cane would really help on a painful day. The hardest part are days when I need to shuffle around the house either with homeschooling or house chores but my body wants to sit and rest. Having a rolling walker with a seat or a used wheelchair I can scoot around on would save my knees and feet. I have a rheumy appointment next month where I plan on bringing up some of these concerns.

Now in my fourth month on Simponi infusions so Medicare will pay for it. Things are ok, I guess.

I have spent some time research Leaky Gut. I was sure what I thought about all that, but I found a good book that gives the medical, biological reason behind it. I can understand that and not all the regular hype about. Spent some time deciding which pro/pre biotics might help. I found enough information to link certain problems with certain needs.

I just started a serious dosing of pre/pro biotics. I won’t get into all it, but maybe I will have something to report in a few months.

If interested, the book is called The Keystone Approach - Autoimmunity and the Microbiome. By Rebecca Fett. She is pretty smart and did a ton of research. You can get it on Kindle cheap. I found it well researched and she has PsA. May be worth a read.
