Call me crazy, but

Why don’t docs prescribe an antiemetic to go along with methotrexate for folks who get GI upset? I don’t get it. My primary gives me a script for Zofran every now and then. I usually take one the day after methotrexate day because I do get a touch of nausea. Why aren’t others doing this? Any ideas?

My doc gave me gravol to take with the mtx. Now I get the gravol to go with the morphine no more mtx. I have no idea why more do not, cost? , not thinking?, med interactions?

Yep, I’m with you I just don’t get it…my nausea was bad with higher dose MTX and didn’t get an antiemetic for quite a long time…by then I had also got a psychological complex I think about oral med as I still feel queasy whenever I put tablets in my mouth which lasts for an hour or so…Including the antiemetic lol Crazy or what?! One of the rheumatology nurses told me this is quite common

I agree GrumpyCat, in the beginning of all this I struggled with nausea like many others. But maybe it was my own doing because at that point I think my mindset was that I was taking enough meds and didn't want to add another. Now being much farther down this journey and much wiser (lol) my next appointment I will be asking for a script just in case. Especially after my last go around when I took all my meds the same day.

That’s why I’m a fan of the Zofran. It comes in a disintegrating tablet. Put it on you tongue and it dissolves and works really fast. You are in the UK? I would guess they make it there, but call it something different? I’m not sure how that works.

If you have insurance, make sure to ask for the kind that is orally disintegrating. It’s good stuff. Maybe you can get your doctor to write for it.

Thanks for that advice. I have an appointment in about 2 weeks and will be asking :) Thanks

I’ll tell you the next dr I see I will be asking for something for nausea. But you would think with it being such a common side affect they would proscribe something just in case?
