Has anyone gone off of DMARDs and/or biologics and relied on the healing effects of Bikram yoga? I'm getting tired of bouncing around on different drugs with crazy side effects and thinking of going off of everything even the NSAIDS. I've been dabbling in Bikram yoga for a couple of years and am now just getting serious about it and going every day, and I've never felt better, both physically and emotionally. I tried regular yoga but my wrists are so bad that I just couldn't get into the postures.
I've been on methotrexate, remicade, enbrel and now humira and have weaned off of all of my NSAID's and just take the Humira once per week. I'm considering stopping that as well as it never did much anyway.
I'd love to hear from others who have tried this as well - Good/Bad or otherwise : ) Thanks and have a great day!!
Hi, Betty. I think we all know the feeling of “ditch this crap …” I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to those feelings regularly. In fact, Bikram Yoga, with the heat and stretching and movement may make you feel much better. I don’t know, havn’t tried it. But please don’t confuse feeling better with disease control. And bear in mind that pain is not always a reliable indicator of disease severity. Make no mistake about it: PsA at its worst can wreak irreparable damage on your joints, not to mention your relationships, your career and your emotions. But I digress.

The decision, though, is entirely yours. Please make it in careful consultation with your doctors.
